IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON ESPOLA ROAD IMPROVEMENTS
Espola Road Safety Improvements are scheduled to begin mid-March. This is a multi-phased project projected to take up to 18 months. Please allow time in your morning commute to accommodate interruptions in traffic to and from school. Friday, April 20, the Counseling Dept. will host the RACC College Fair during Student lunch.
The PHS Counseling Dept. is in need of volunteers to serve as proctors for upcoming Advanced Placement (AP) testing. AP Testing runs May 8–18. There are morning and afternoon shifts.Morning starts at 7:15AM and afternoon starts at 11:15AM. Volunteers will provide their availability and will be scheduled accordingly.Parents must have a Level I clearance. Forms and clearance requirements can be obtained from Sandy Fraser in the front office. If you are an active volunteer at PHS with any of our programs or would like to become a volunteer, please contact Sandy Fraser in the front office at 858-748-0245. We want ensure we have the required paperwork for you on file. Thank you for your support of PHS.
All visitors to our campus must check in through the Administration Office at the front of the school.
Student Services
The Student Services Office is here to support students and parents! We offer personal/social/crisis support in addition to support groups (tobacco cessation, drug/alcohol cessation, general groups). The office is sponsored through donations from the PTSA, the PHS Foundation, a tobacco grant, and community donations. GENERAL INFORMATION
· Parking Permits are ONLY sold on Mondays after school at the Finance window. All students must attend a Start Smart Driving program before purchasing a permit. Bring vehicle registration, driver’s license and $10. A schedule of Start Smart classes for 2016-17 school year is on the Poway High website.
· FRONT DESK POLICY: Due to the liability, volume and the value of various personal effects, we no longer accept items to be picked up by or delivered to students. Items include lunches, beverages, phones, money, birthday items, homework, clothing, or pizza deliveries. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
· Students must have permission to leave campus at lunch. Parents must come to Poway High in person with a photo ID to approve an off campus pass for their student.
· ATTENDANCE: Parents you can now email us at phsattendance@powayusd.com each day your child is absent or tardy. Please be aware that only your valid PUSD registered email will be accepted to clear any absences or tardies or you may call the absence hotline at 748-7016 and follow the instructions. **ALL ABSENCES MUST BE CLEARED WITHIN 24 HOURS. Off Campus Passes still need to be called into the Absence Hotline at 858-748-0245 X5113, 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE. If requesting an off-campus pass for your student to leave campus the same day, you must come to the attendance window with your ID to check your student out. PLEASE NOTE: Emergency Contacts – those are for a school’s emergency only. Emergency contacts listed for your student do not have permission to check a student out unless parent approves or a true emergency.
PTA
PTSA NEEDS YOU! Please join the PTSA and support our students at Poway High! Anyone can join! Support the needs of our students and staff. Membership is $10.50 per adult & $7 per student. Visit http://powayptsa.org and click the “join” tab at the top.
