From Mrs. Price
Buckalew Families,
We are excited to have our 4th Grade After School Play Dates tomorrow, FIELD DAY Wednesday and Thursday (see below for details), and just a friendly reminder, there is NO SCHOOL on Friday March 12. We hope that all of you have a wonderful and safe Spring Break.
Beginning our 4th grading period, we are also excited to say that we will have 93% of our students attending Buckalew IN PERSON, while 7% will remain online. Our goal continues to be the same: keeping all students and staff safe and remain open to finish the school year in-person.
Since Governor Abbott's announcement last week, CISD has not changed ANY mask requirements at this time. Therefore, students will continue wearing masks March 10th and beyond. I do expect Dr. Null to give another LIVE update soon, so stay tuned for that announcement. As for our Biker/Walker area, I do want to remind parents that our car rider line is available for a more socially distant, safe dismissal for families.
Just a reminder, there are 2 different links below to review for success on the learning platform you have selected as a family. The remainder of the information in the BUZZ is applicable to our entire Buckalew Community!
For questions or concerns, please make sure to visit CISD's Roadmap to Remain Open, call our front office at 281-465-3400, or email contactbuckalew@conroeisd.net.
Lastly, we are so glad to be back in our buildings with your children and want to celebrate IN PERSON learning through the end of the year!
Mrs. Price

CISD Health and Safety Protocols
Conroe ISD is reviewing the newly released guidance from the Texas Education Agency which supports our current safety practices. All current safety protocols will remain in effect until further notice. Conroe ISD is committed to providing the safest learning environment for its students and staff and keeping schools open.

March's Character Trait: Perseverance
The Merium Webster dictionary defines perseverance as a continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition: steadfastness. Steadfastness is such a powerful word. It brings to mind images of calm, reliability, and trust. Those are the attributes perseverant people bring to our world.
Grow Kids' Minds (2020) gives these tips to help build perseverance in your child:
1. Set realistic, short-term goals Learning how to set and achieve short-term goals shows children how effort leads to reward (i.e. earning higher grades, mastering a new skill, learning a new sport, etc.). 2. Praise effort Praising your child’s effort, rather than his/her ability, is a fantastic way to build perseverance and persistence. By reminding your child that ability can change over time, you’re showing him/her how to face and overcome any hurdle. 3. Praise your child sincerely Children are very perceptive. They can easily spot the difference between empty compliments and sincere praise. When children accomplish tasks easily and are complimented for it, they get the message that minimal effort is all that’s required. To instill perseverance, raise your expectations, so your child is challenged to meet them. 4. Point out their strengths When your children face failure, remind them of their strengths. First, acknowledge the setback by saying, “I understand why you’re upset. That must be really disappointing.” Then, help them move forward by identifying strengths they can use the next time they’re in the situation.
