Happy Friday, Lil Steamer Families!

September 9, 2022

Lil Steamer Families --

Sometimes you control the day, and other times the day controls you.

I'm sorry to say that this week got the better of me, and unfortunately I do not have a principal's note for our newsletter this week.

I'll do better next week!

JAGH

From the desk of: School Counselor Mrs. Meumann

This past week on Wellness Wednesday we encouraged students to practice healthy habits to achieve better mental and physical health. Elementary students need 9-12 hours of sleep a night. When you get enough sleep, your attention, memory, and overall mood are better.

Kings of KA

Kindergarten students learned about the letter Kk on Friday. The boys of KA were crowned the KIngs of Kindergarten!

4th Grade AR Wall of Fame Club Members!

This year 4th grade has made a positive change in the Accelerated Reader program. The kids are encouraged to obtain 100 points for the year. However, they are just being rewarded for their work of earning points for reading their books and completing the computer quiz. After earning 5 points they let their teacher know and they receive the reward and their name on the wall in the 5 point Club. This continues at a variety of levels from 5, 10 15, 20, 25, 50, 75, and 100 clubs.

The following have earned membership in the 5 point club: Lucas S., Oliver F., Orion H., Carter W., Waylon F., Mallory C., Ella R., Elizabeth R., Brayden S., Mason S., Emarie D., Kolton B., Layton C., Kase W., and Brainlynn R.

The following have earned membership in the 10 point club: Briella M., Blake G., Owen C., Harper W., Landon E., Paisley K., and Jacob H.

We have one member of the 15 point club: Skylar H.

We also have one member in the 50 point club: Tyler H.

Congratulations to all of the above mentioned. We encourage students to keep reading as continuous reading builds fluency and vocabulary awareness.

Ag In The Classroom!

1D had a special visitor from Ag in the classroom on Tuesday, September 6th. They learned about where food comes from and what it is made of. They then participated in an activity to learn that all things start on the FARM! They had so much fun. Thank you Diane Baker!

Interested in Volunteering?

If you are interested in volunteering at FES, please email Principal Hoese at jhoese@riverbendschools.net with your contact information, preferred grade(s), and other pertinent details.

A volunteer list will then be compiled and teachers will have the opportunity to reach out and schedule opportunities for volunteers to help. Volunteers will need to complete a background check and paperwork prior to starting.
