Beasley Weekly Bulletin
For the Week of 11/02/2015
Principal's Message
We have some important information to share with you this week.
1. Daylight savings time has begun this Sunday, November 1, 2015 and time went back 1 hour. Please make sure to adjust your clocks.
2. Ms. Wilson will not be available this week due to a family emergency. If you have any questions, please direct them to either. Mrs. Rendleman, Mr. Dowell, Ms. Johns or I. We will do our best to address your concerns.
3. The PPC has met this past week to address your concerns about grading, bulletin boards and the UbD curriculum maps. We thank you for providing your concerns with the PPC and your concerns are always a priority matter for administration. The following recommendations were made:
Grading Policy
3 grades a week are required in reading and math and they are 1 class assignment, 1 homework assignment and 1 test/quiz. However, teachers are not required to submit 3 grades for the other content areas. 1 grade a week in other areas i.e. social studies, science and etc. are preferred.
Bulletin Boards
We will be removing more of the bulletin boards from the hallways to reduce the amount of bulletin boards in the rotational schedule. Instead, we intend to put in place more murals, PBIS banners or banners that celebrate our students. All bulletin boards are still required to have the Common Core State Standards, Rubrics or some form of metric for grading and authentic student work.
Curriculum Maps
UbD curriculum maps are to help teacher’s work load because all of the planning is completed for the quarter or parts of the quarter. If teachers have completed UbD curriculum maps, weekly lesson plans are not due every week.

Fright and Fitness Sock Hop
We would like to extend a huge thanks to Ms. Hickman (Gifted K) and her leadership toward spearheading the Fright and Fitness event held on Friday, October 29th for all of our K-8th students. The activities included students watching various dance videos that allowed students to move kinesthetically using their bodies. The activities were very organized and the students had a wonderful time. Thank you again Ms. Hickman. Additionally, thanks to all of our Beasley teachers and staff who came dressed in costumes on Friday. The 2nd Grade Teacher Team looks really cute!
Beasley Goes Pink
We would like to extend a second huge thanks to Ms. Hickman (Gifted K) and her leadership toward spearheading the Beasley goes Pink Event on Monday, October 24th for all of our K-8tj students. The activities included students wearing pink in their solidarity of breast cancer awareness. The students participated in a assembly where our guest speaker was Ms. Shannon Smith (Teacher Assistant) who is a breast cancer survivor. Our students were able to ask Ms. Smith questions about cancer because believe it or not many of our students heard of cancer but really do not know what it is, how it impacts the body, differing types, varying stages, cancer treatments and side effects. We would also like to thank Ms. Smith for allowing our students to learn from her experience and we are very happy that she was able to win in her fight against cancer!
REACH Performance Tasks
If you are experiencing difficulties completing your REACH Performance Tasks please let me know. You may have an incorrect task, or there may be conflicts in IMPACT scheduling. If there are errors, we may be able to assist you in getting an extension.
Have a Great Work Week!
