November HH Library News
We Gobble Up Great Books!
Thank you for the 4th successful Literary Pumpkin Patch!
A video of the pumpkins was posted to the Harmony Hills ES Library Facebook page. If you weren't able to see them in person click on the link. They were FABULOUS!
Overdrive ebooks and audiobooks are available 24/7!
Overdrive is a free app on mobile devices. Download and add the NEISD collection. Then login with either a student ID for the elementary collection or (if you've talked with Ms. Oliverson and had a parent account created) a parent ID number can access the full collection. You can either use the "READ" mode good anywhere you have wifi or you can download the content to be available offline for one to three weeks.
Six Flags Six Hour Reading
The reading logs for the free Six Flags tickets will go home on either the Thursday or Friday before the November break. K-5 students will have through the December break (and a few days into January) to get their six hours of reading completed, logged, and the paper returned. The tickets come in May!
We renewed our subscription.
See the handouts sent home, the link to the Google password protected document, or contact Ms. Oliverson for the username and passwords.
Hour of Code
Code.org is a great resource for kids (from pre-readers to high school seniors) to start practicing some of the logic and programming skills that the jobs of tomorrow will need. Hour of Code is a worldwide focus for one hour that week ... but the site is available all the time!

This is what the app icon looks like!
Bluebonnet Reading (Grades 3-5)/ Battle Reading (Grade 4)
The state award list can be found here. We encourage students to read FIVE of the titles. Students who read five of the titles complete a short survey (located in a green binder on the Bluebonnet display) to be able to vote. Once the statewide winner is announced we will hold a celebration! (If you are interested NEXT year's list was recently announced and can be found here.)
Fourth grade only is invited to participate in the Battle of the Books (think a game show at both the campus level and then the district level). Several of the current Bluebonnet books are on this year's list, as well as some older nominees and different titles. A letter will be sent home to 4th grade soon. See the tab on the library webpage for more information until then.
