Literacy Coaching Connections
-news you can use Vol. 1 Issue 1
Welcome Back!
I am so excited for this year to finally be underway! We have had a lot of changes happening the past few years. We will work through all of these changes together. I am looking forward to working as a Literacy Coach with Barber, Harris, Findley, Voris, Windemere, and Smith! If you have questions related to ELA (English Language Arts) CCSS (Common Core State Standards), please let me know. I may not have the answers but will do my best to find someone who does. Many of the buildings will be working on Accountable Talk, Unpacking the Curriculum Maps or Text Dependent Questions. A great resource that you may want to look at for lesson ideas or videos on how it's done is https://www.teachingchannel.org/ You can sign up for free! It's a great site for teachers. Another weblink I wanted to share with you that is full of resources related to lessons and the Common Core is http://www.thinkfinity.org/welcome This site is also loaded with ideas in content areas Illuminations(mathematics), ReadWriteThink (ELA), and others. Be sure to check it out. It's also free.
I am also looking forward to attending the IFL (Institutes for Learning) training and implementing the Units of Study with teachers in grade 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7. Our connection with IFL will be beneficial as they will be consulting authors of the PARCC assessments which will be implemented in during 2014-2015 school year. For more information about the PARCC Assessments you can access their website http://www.parcconline.org/
Hope your school year is off to a great start!

Wonderopolis Site Review
Just a quick note on the wonders, if there is a specific video that you'll want to show your classes, you may want to download the video to a jumpstick at home and bring it to school as many things are blocked at the school level.
Hope you find this helpful!
