Second to teachers, principals make the greatest impact on student achievement! Studies have shown that effective principals can raise the achievement of a typical student in their schools by between two and seven months of learning in a single school year.
This year, we are investing in early identification of future leaders. As such, we are kicking off a new principal hiring process. Besides ensuring a rigorous, robust and multi-faceted approach to our hiring, we are starting early! On September 1st, we launched our new principal application and set our new hiring process in motion.
Not only will we assess candidates in typical interview settings, we will observe candidates in job-embedded leadership activities. Expanding our process will allow a comprehensive assessment of applicants, a quality pool of potential principal candidates and the ability to ensure the best-fit for any 2019-2020 principal vacancy.
Investing in our current leaders is a priority for our district, therefore only Internal Candidates will be considered at this time, prioritizing current Dallas ISD assistant principals. The information below describes the overall process with the various stages and timelines. The first stage of the online application is only open the month of September.

Step 1 - Apply!
The first step in applying for a principal position for the 2019-2020 school year is to apply online via Applitrack.
Applicants will need to upload several documents such as their resume, previous performance evaluations, previous achievement data for which they were responsible and a letter of recommendation from their current supervisor.
This year's updated, online application also includes two written essays.
