Wishing you the JOY of Family, the GIFT of Friends, and the BEST of Everything this Christmas Season and the New Year!

This past week my body has most definitely been telling me that it's time to slow down a bit and take a break! I'm looking forward to and am very thankful for some time off to enjoy family, friends and my home!

I do wish you all the best and that you will get to focus on all those things that make you happy and blessed.

I look forward to continuing our work in the new year!

Public Education Long Range Plan Conference

The State Board of Education is hosting a free one-day conference called Learning Roundtable: Building a Stronger Texas from 8:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. on January 30, 2019 at the Austin Convention Center.

This year’s conference focuses on three topics from the recently adopted Long-Range Plan for Public Education. Those are equity and access, family engagement and empowerment, and student engagement and empowerment.

Panel 1: Activated and Empowered – Families as Partners

Long-Range Plan Vision: All families are actively involved in their students’ education at all levels.

Research has shown that establishing strong communication and relationships with parents can have positive and tangible effects on a student's success in school. Whether trying to resolve an argument caused by miscommunication or sharing difficult information, this session will provide tips and tools to help you know how to handle tough situations and foster positive relationships with your students' parents.
