Principal's Message
Dear Wildcat Family,
I want to say a huge THANK YOU to those of you who have reached out to our staff and shared some positive comments about the work they are doing. To thank you for understanding that while it can be frustrating and ton of work on your part, the teachers are working hard to give you their very best. It's the thank you's that make the long days and late nights bearable.
The metrics continue to move in the right direction for us to get students back on campus. We are so excited to get them here, the spirit of MHS is in them, so without them its very quiet and quite dull. Continue to watch your email for official information from the district.
The fact that I have not had to add a ton of information or new spots to the Wildcat Press this week shows how well we are adapting to this current situation. I promise to keep you up to date with all that is happening.
It's the smallest spark of progress that often leads to the biggest breakthroughs, keep giving your best effort every day.
Best to all of you and stay safe,
Rod Huston

New Security Protocols in Place
When we return to campus you will find that we have sealed the front office so that no one can enter campus without checking in and getting a visitors badge. When you come to the desk our staff will greet you and if you need to come through the the security check you will be asked to provide a valid government issued identification card. This card will be placed into our new Raptor identification system to run a background check, before printing a visitors badge with your name, picture and destination on campus. You must wear this badge at all times while on campus. The Raptor System checks to ensure that registered sex offenders are not entering our buildings. Note that the Raptor System only scans the visitor's name, date of birth, and photo for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. Additional visitor data from the ID is not gathered nor accessible by users, and the system is not connected to any other organization such as the Department of Motor Vehicles. If you are interested in learning more about the Raptor System, please visit Raptor Technologies’ website (www.raptortech.com). If you have any questions for district personnel, please contact Allen Cain, GPS Safety & Security Director at 480-497-3349 or allen.cain@gilbetschools.net.
We are also working with our security officers to insure that they are greeting all visitors to insure that they have been through the office and only going to those areas for which they have been issued a destination. This new process will take a little more time upon your arrival to get to your destination so please plan accordingly.
Students arriving on campus after the class bell has rung will all be directed around to the front office to check in. Before and after school students will be directed to use the doors that enter into the courtyard areas, and then can enter the buildings form the courtyard. Entering and exiting through the front administration doors will be reserved for guests.
Update Your Students Information
Message from our Athletic Director
Wildcat Families,
Our boys golf team kicked off the fall sports season this week and earned two victories. We are off to a hot start and look to keep it going this week. Good job guys! I want to continue to encourage students to come out and join a sport this fall. It's not too late to get in on the fun. Click here for more information on dates and times.
Freshmen and New Student Walkabout
Freshmen and New-to-Mesquite Wildcats, we are excited to announce that we will be offering times for you to walk your schedule prior to the first day of in-person classes on September 3rd and 4th. Our hope is that we can provide an opportunity for you to get a feel for our campus as well as get an eye on each of your class locations. We have invited our Link Leaders to campus to help you navigate around campus.
In our continued effort to make sure that we provide a safe environment, we are asking that you come during your below scheduled time. We have provided two days and times, so that you and your family can choose the day that works best with your schedule.
You will be able to find your most up-to-date schedule on Infinite Campus on Wednesday, September 2nd after 5pm, as we are making final adjustments to ensure safe numbers within each class. Your best and most up to date information will be found on your student Infinite Campus portal while you are on campus. Please understand that things are changing daily and there may still be small adjustments prior to Tuesday morning.
Teachers and counselors will not be available during these times. This is purely an opportunity for students to become familiar with the campus and the best way to travel from class to class. The bookstore will be open to purchase PE uniforms.

Tri University Week - ASU - NAU - UA
Arizona’s public universities are excited to share changes to the Tri-University Collaboration. Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Arizona are coming together again this year to ensure your students and families are well informed about the opportunities and resources available to them. As your public universities, we recognize the importance of working together and improving access, especially in a year like no other.
In our fifth year of collaboration, and in recognition of the challenges that COVID-19 has brought, we will be bringing our events to students, families, and supporters virtually, available to access at the same time all throughout the state. These events will take the place of our traditional daytime, evening and high school specific programs and be hosted during Tri-University Week: September 8 - 12.
We look forward to working with you on this special initiative for the next school year.
We know that this collaboration cannot happen without your support!

Chromebooks
As we return to class, please make sure your Chromebooks come to school with you. Due to the nature of our classes this year your Chromebook will be used in all the classes that you attend either online or at home. Unfortunately, the library is not in a position to give out loaners at this time. Thanks for your cooperation!
