Slang

[slaNG]

Definition:

A word that is not a part of vocabulary and are used informally, mostly during speech instead of writing.

Examples:

Photobomb: The seal is photobombing the penguins' picture.

Fail: Taking a seal-free picture turned out to be a fail.

Da: Da seal is in da picture of da penguins.

Effect of the Technique:

The technique of slang enables authors to submerge readers into a topic through dialog or quotations. It also brings a sense of realism to the piece as a dialog of a character portrayed as a poor farmer in the 1800s speaking proper English would not allow the piece to reach its full potiental.
