Quotes From Henry Hudson (Founder of NY)

"This land may be profitable to those that will adventure it."

Henry Hudson was proclaiming that if you explore and use your resources the land will benefit for you in New York Colony.

"These natives are a very good people; for when they saw that I would not remain, they supposed that I was afraid of their bows; and, taking their arrows, the broke them in pieces and threw them into the fire."

He was showing that he was not afraid of the indians, by taking and breaking the arrow, he showed he ment he wasn't afraid of them and that they were not afraid of him. Meaning this, he was brave and bold leader.

"I used all diligence to arrive at London and therefore I now gave my crew a certificate under my hand, of my free and willing return, without persuasion or force by any one or more of them."

He was proud of his colony, in which he trusted every single colonist. Even if they were home-sick, he allowed them to return to New England.

Why You Should Move To The New York Colony!

Henry Hudson had founded the New York colony in 1624, along with 18 families that he had taken with to settle there on the new land. Peter Minuet had bought modern time Manhattan from the Indians using beads, cloth, and knives, all equalling out to $24 in modern currency. Meaning that back then it was a very pricy land, but to build a house on the land is free for all people who wanted to live there and all religions are welcome! There is many things you can do there, fish, hunt, do any type of farming on the fertile land, and trap & trade furs!

Highlights Of The New York Colony!

Location Of New York Colony

<--- Map

New York is the colony towards the top, being the state with no snow, and constant heat and refreshing beaches. This weather is good for many crops that need yearly heat, and rain.

Why Not To Move To Virginia

John Smith was the founder of the Virginia and he was horrible leader, he would not let a single man eat unless he did his work, even if he was sick! Also, another thing that didn't help was that they focused on finding gold and adventuring rather than crops and black-smithing. due to this, the colony gave way to starvation, diseases, and accsedents happened too because they didn't know how to use certain equipment. Much less, they had many mosquitoes that spreaded many deadly diseases, and the total death rate of all the pandemics was 8,000 out of 10,000 people. During the winter it was much worse. People froze, and they were forced to eat rats, dogs, and corpses of anything they could find. They did not except any religion besides christianity, and they believe the entire state was founded on christianity, so they had taken many people and drowned them for their religion. Because they didn't have any they couldn't defend themselves against the aggressive Indians and lots died in battle as well. As well, they couldn't hunt for deer.

Conclusion

I believe it is very clear that NY is a very wonderful and bountiful and much better than the unforgiving Virgina. I hope you move to NY, we will except you because all people are welcome! See you here!
