PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Guardians,

8th Grade families should check their emails for communications sent throughout this week. An email was sent to families of those graduates that will be recognized at the Awards Night on Monday, May 16. Another email was sent to all 8th grade families listing information and reminders regarding 8th grade end-of-year activities. There is so much happening . . . we know your mailbox is full . . . please don't hesitate to call or email with any questions as we close out another school year.

Our PTO is working hard to coordinate the Graduation Picnic and the Graduation Dance. Please consider volunteering for these events.

Attention current 5th, 6th, and 7th Grade Families:

Lincoln's 2022/23 student school supplies can now be purchased in pre-boxed sales through PTO's partnership with EPI. Click here for our supply lists. This is offered as a convenience, but parents may still purchase school supplies on their own.

Next week our 7th Grade students will attend the 6th grade Candor Health presentation on May 19, 2022. Please be sure to read through the paragraphs below about this program. The link for 7th grade parents to view the pre-recorded presentation is now available and the link is listed below.

Enjoy the weekend!

7th Grade: PARENT INFORMATION REGARDING UPCOMING CANDOR HEALTH STUDENT PRESENTATIONS (Formerly Robert Crown Presentations)

The 6th Grade Human Reproduction and Embryology unit will be presented to our current 7th grade class because it was missed last year due to the pandemic.

Human Reproduction & Embryology – Thursday, May 19 2022

Previously known as Life Begins, this program teaches reproductive science. This program starts with a brief review of puberty content then focuses on the homologous nature of the female and male anatomy. We provide students the scientific explanation of fertilization and what is needed to create new life. A basic overview of genetics and cell division, prenatal development, and the opportunity for students to address commonly asked questions regarding multiples, miscarriage and delivery are given. Additionally, we explore how the social emotional skills of negotiation and teamwork can be helpful in navigating the ups and downs of puberty and the increased independence and responsibility that comes with adolescence.

Program Goals:

  1. To explain the functions of the reproductive organs
  2. To describe the process of fertilization
  3. To recognize stages of growth during prenatal development (embryology)
  4. To identify SEL tools to manage life challenges

Human Reproduction & Embryology: Parent Overview

Parents have access to a pre-recorded presentation by a Candor Health educator previewing this presentation.
