Athena (Greek Goddess)

Athena is a goddess from Greek time. She is a goddess of war and wisdom. of wisdom and military victory, and also the patron of the city of Athens. The owl was her symbol, the wise bird people like to call it.

Family Connections / Friends & Enemies

Athena father was Zeus and her mother was Metis, even though people say she didn't have mother because of how she was born. One of her main half- brothers was Hercules she was related to many other siblings even hundreds. Her allies (friends) were Odysseus, Jason, Perseus eve though Athena wasn't really a mean goddess she had people she didn't like. Like: Poseidon, Medusa, Arachne, and Aphrodite.

Myths

  • One Myth on how Athena was born is a very unique one. They say that Metis is wife of Zeus who was pregnant with Athena at the time. Zeus thought that if Metis had Athena at the time she would create something powerful and evil. So Zeus Swallowed Metis and when it was time for Athena to be born Zeus chopped open his head and there came out Athena fully suited in armor and grown.
  • Second Myth was that she helped Odysseus to win the Trojan war. Athena offered Odysseus counsel throughout the Trojan War, protected him in his wanderings, guided him home and aided him in regaining his home and his wife.
  • Third Myth was another contest dealing with weaving. She went up against Arakhne who was transformed by the goddess into a spider because she won the contest. Even though people say Athena was the starter of weaving.
