Greenbrook Gator Newsletter
January 19, 2024
From Mr. G's Desk
Hello,
I want to Thank everyone for all their help this week on Tuesday with our E-Learning Day. The students and staff did a great job. All of our 1st through 5th graders have finished their Winter Map Testing. The students gave their best effort on both reading and math test. I am so proud of all of them.
Our EL students will be taking the state Access Test in listening, speaking and writing for the next couple of weeks.
Just a reminder that all students have homework every night on their Chromebook. The sites are all listed below in this newsletter. The students know how to get to these sites as they are used though out the day at school. If they do 1 site a day after school for the time that is listed it will help them so much when they are back at school. If your child is having any problems getting to these sites please reach out to your child's teacher.
Please make sure your child is dressed for the winter weather. If the temperature is above 10 degrees with the wind chill we do go outside everyday for recess. It is important that they have boots, gloves, hats and snow pants to keep them warm.
Just a quick update on drop off procedures. In an effort to ensure safety and efficiency of our daily drop off operations, we kindly request that parents remain in their cars when dropping off your students in the morning and refrain from waiting with them in line.
By staying in your vehicles , we can help reduce congestion, minimize pedestrian traffic, and streamline the drop- off process. Our staff will be present to assist students as they exit their vehicles and make their way to the school entrance.
Your cooperation in adhering to the procedure is greatly appreciated. Our primary goal is to make sure all students are safe and these procedures aid in maintaining our goal.
Rest assured that your child will be in good hands when they are dropped off!
Here are a couple of reminders about dismissal. Following these will help us improve the speed of our dismissal greatly.
For Car Riders:
- Please make pull up as far as possible to pick up your children (remember only Kindergarten and 1st grade should get in the first line, all other grades should go around to where those grades are dismissed from).
- Please stay in your car at all times. We have plenty of staff that will get students safely to their car.
- Please wait in the neighborhood until your color group is called before entering the parking lot.
- Please do not park in the parking lot and get out of your car, this causes numerous safety issues and makes it hard for our staff to make sure students get places safely.
- Our dismissal order (with estimated times) is: Blue group (3:20), Yellow group (3:22), Gray Group (3:25), Pink Group (3:28).
For Walkers:
- 2nd-5th grade walkers will come out to meet parents and family members by the Early Childhood Center. All Kindergarten and 1st grade walkers will come out by the green sign near the entrance. Please do not walk up to the teacher's classroom doors, you can wait in the grass and on the benches and our staff will help dismiss the children safely to you.
For All Families:
- If you are ever going to change your child(ren)s mode of transport, please call the school office (630-894-4544) before 3:00PM (2:15PM on Wednesday's) to make sure your child gets dismissed the correct way.
