Tips, Titles and Tools for Teachers

Literacy Resources and Book Recommendations

We've had a number of fun events this month to celebrate the joy of reading! Atwood Primary celebrated Dr. Seuss Day with a school-wide reading event and Williams Elementary kicked off our annual March Madness reading tournament. It's awesome to see our students finding joy in reading!

This morning, WES Skyped with Author Tamra Wight, who shared the first chapter in her fourth book with us. What a treat! Our next visit with her is scheduled for Wednesday, April 6. It will be another full day of reading celebrations, as the winner of our Nonfiction March Madness tournament will be announced in a school-wide assembly at 1:45!

This week, I'm sharing some new book recommendations, as well as a few of my favorite recent blog posts.

Happy Reading!

Dr. Seuss Day at Atwood Primary

The town meeting on March 6 at Atwood Primary focused on celebrating Dr. Seuss and the importance of reading! This special event included poems shared by Title 1 Readers, a fun skit for My Many Colored Days and a school-wide Read In. Thanks to Mrs. Kroemer for coordinating such a fun event celebrating the importance of reading!

2017 March Madness at Williams Elementary

On Wednesday, March 1, we kicked off our annual Nonfiction March Madness tournament with a school assembly at WES! Thank you to the teachers for highlighting the sixteen books in this year's competition. A big THANK YOU to Jason Pellerin for organizing and hosting our opening ceremony. The winner of our reading tournament will be announced on April 5! Stay tuned!
