All Things Baker!
Principal's Message!
Hello All,
Thank you all for another amazing week of learning and growth! Each and every day, I am so inspired by watching the kiddos approach the week with positivity and excitement. It is our job to match their enthusiasm and fervor for learning. If we start the day with a promise to ourselves to be positive and decide to be in a great mood and attack the challenges of the day, we have already succeeded.
I promise to hold myself to that same standard. I love the idea of setting up rules for how I want to take on the day. Choose the things that impact you positively and reject the things that impact you negatively. I know it sounds so simple but is certainly a challenge! I have said it before and mean it every time, I am honored to serve the families, the kiddos, and the teachers and staff at Baker!
As always, thank you all for your support and at Baker Elementary we believe In a World Where You Can Be Anything . . . Be Kind!
Sincerely,
Danielle Wallace

Celebrate Calm Opportunity!
We are happy to announce that Celebrate Calm - 10 Ways to Stop Defiance, Disrespect & Yelling Workshop is returning to Prosper ISD on October 22 for two free workshops. Last year over 400 parents attended the Celebrate Calm presentation and the positive feedback was overwhelming.
Celebrate Calm Founder Kirk Martin, and his son Casey, will provide parents and teachers with a dozen strategies that will eliminate defiance, disrespect, yelling, bullying, sibling fights and more that characterize our homes and classrooms. Kirk provides concrete, practical strategies that work with kids ages 2-22 in everyday situations to:
• Get kids to listen the first time.
• Stop defiance, disrespect, and yelling.
• Stop whining, tantrums and sibling fights.
• Get kids off video games/screens without a fight.
• Create stress-free mornings, homework time and bedtime.

Boxtop Information!
It is time to turn in your Boxtop App earning to get credit for the Fall contest!
Luckily, Boxtops for education just updated their app to allow parents to “assign” credit to their earnings on the app. I have made a step by step graphic for you to follow below.
I few things to keep in mind:
1. I am accepting Summer amounts, so give credit to any store amount from June until present!
2. The Contest ends October 24th! Get all amounts assigned before then for your child’s class to get credit to possible win an ice cream/pizza party!
3. If you have multiple kids, feel free to assign different names to each store earning. (But only one name per transaction!)
4. Please remember to put 1st and last name! There are so many kiddos with duplicate names! And include grade/teacher!
5. I WILL be giving the candy prizes for app earnings! 1 prize for every 10 box tops, which on app is 1 per $1.00 earning!
Thank you! And if you have any questions please email me at prosperbakerboxtops@gmail.com
Thank you and good luck!

Storybook Pumpkin Time!
Your child is invited to create a storybook pumpkin to be displayed in the Baker library for the month of October! This is something that is optional and done at home. Your child can choose a character from a book and then transform a pumpkin into that character. There are examples attached to this email!
The storybook character pumpkin can be dropped off in the library anytime and will be displayed through October 31st! Please make sure that the pumpkin is picked up by Thursday, November 1st! We did have some pumpkins that went bad and we had to throw away before the month was over last year, so just be aware that the pumpkin may not be here to take back home. Some people did use plastic pumpkins, so that is always an option instead of a real pumpkin.
Email Mrs. Calhoun (recalhoun @prosper-isd.net) if you have any questions!

21 Day Challenge - "Be a Super Snacker"
Prosper ISD is competing against Wylie ISD to promote health and nutrition in a friendly competition sponsored by Medical City Children’s Hospital called the 21-Day Challenge. The Registration period is September 23 through October 7. The Challenge starts on October 7. The primary purpose is for our own elementary students to create healthy snack options and commit to healthier “snacking” for this 21-day period in hopes that will create habits of healthier eating for life. This is a good-natured competition promoting a great cause. Scores are based on the percentage of parents that enroll their child in the program, eat healthy snacks and do the post-challenge survey. Some of the menu items in the healthy snack recipe book were created by our high school culinary students, taste-tested by parents/students, and submitted.
More information will be coming out through your PISD Elementary PE classes, but here is how to register:
