Mrs. Stasney's 3rd Grade News
For the week of April 1st
STAAR Testing This Week
-Visitors are not allowed on campus at all these two days. Numerous students are taken from their classrooms for small-group testing, and quite often these small groups are testing in the front office area (such as Mrs. Goodman's office, Mrs. Bartosh's office, Mrs. Hopkins's office).
-There will be no specials on Tuesday & Wednesday. I will schedule a morning recess in addition to our afternoon recess so that the students have a chance to move!
-I will be administering the STAAR test on both days to a small group of 4th grade students. This means that a substitute will be with the students during this time. Testing is limited to no more than 4 hours, but the students generally finish before that. I will return to my class as soon as my testing students are finished, so I should be rejoining the kiddos by lunch.
Bootcamp!
On Thursday of this week, the students will take 2 "STAAR-Lite" assessments (math and reading). These are checkpoints created by the district and will each be about 25 questions. The students will have 2 hours to complete each test, which means we'll be testing for 4 hours on Thursday. I will be using the data from these assessments to determine which exact skills individuals students as well as the class as a whole needs more review on before "the big ugly" later in the month.
