Hillcrest STEAM Academy Newsletter
September 2020
From the Office...
Hello STEAM Families,
September... the weather is slowly getting cooler, the sun is setting earlier, and rituals of a new school year are becoming part of our routine. We are so glad that YOU and YOUR FAMILY are part of our HSA family. We are thankful to have such an incredible school community.
This month, the newsletter contains information on a variety of topics, including our 1:1 initiative, student handbook, and a few other things.
We wish you well!
Dr. Roxanne Pearson - Principal
Dr. TJ Winkelmann - Assistant Principal
1:1 Device Updates
As you know, students at HSA have a Device Fee for our 1:1 initiative. A technology fee has been applied to your child’s account. If you have already paid these fees for the current school year, you can disregard this information. The fee includes insurance for the device. The fees will be on a sliding scale, based on free and reduced lunch program status. The structure is as follows:
User Fee
Regular pay: $30
Reduced lunch: $20
Free lunch: $10
Payments can be made online by credit card in the Parent Portal. All fees must be paid by September 11, 2020. If the fee is not paid, your child(ren) will leave the device at school. Many questions can be answered on the Responsible Usage Agreement website. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact your child’s teacher or the office.
Students attending In Person in 2nd-6th grade received a new iPad during the first week of school. Due to extremely high demand, the keyboards and cases for the iPads have not arrived, therefore, iPads do not have cases. You are welcome to use your own case until the district-provided cases arrive. We do not have an expected date for the cases or keyboards at this time. If you would like your child to leave the iPad at school until the cases arrive, that will be fine! Contact your child’s teacher and send in the charger.
