UVM Community Medical School - Nov 12
Since 1998, Community Medical School at the Larner College of Medicine has created a venue for the greater Vermont community to learn about relevant and impactful health-related topics from leading experts and educators at the College, the University of Vermont, and the UVM Medical Center. The program shines a light on the excellence and expertise of Vermont's only academic medical center while providing attendees with a taste of what it's like to be a doctor-in-training. Presentations occur in the Carpenter Auditorium from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. They can count for a STEM lecture credit.
The next talk is entitled "How Knowledge, Belief, & Truth Impact Medical Practice" by Eike Blohm, M.D., Assistant Professor of Surgery. It will focus on why treatments for some diagnoses change over time and what drives this change in medical practice. This presentation will explore how medical knowledge is derived and how it guides a doctor’s clinical decision-making during a patient visit. Audience members will acquire tools to critically appraise online medical information.
