Leadership Corner

As we reflect on our 1st week back to school in a remote/online environment there are many celebrations and struggles. The leadership team could not be more proud of our teachers, students, and families. It is our mission to provide families with the education that New Vision is known for, in an environment that is flexible so all families can succeed. We thank you for your kindness and grace and know that each every member of the Nighthawk family, from staff to parents and to families are doing their very best. We ask for patience and grace as we continue to grow and improve and be the best school we can be. We value your partnership and support and together we are #nighthawkstrong.

iReady Assessment

This year, we’re all facing unexpected challenges, and having students take the i-Ready® Diagnostic at home is one of them. We thank you in advance for helping us get the information about your student that will help us plan and provide the instruction that will meet their unique needs.

Next week, your child's teacher will be administering the iReady test. We’re asking that you supervise your child’s Diagnostic the same way a supportive teacher would.

Prior to the test, we ask that you do the following:

  • View this video on the importance of not helping your child with their iReady test. iReady Video
  • View this video from Mrs. Hejl on how to log into iReady
  • Understand that the i-Ready Diagnostic is a different type of test.
  • Be prepared for your student to encounter questions they will struggle with. We know they might not be able to answer every question correctly and that is okay.
  • Please do not help your student answer the questions on the Diagnostic, even if they struggle.
  • Pleasel have your student complete the assessment according to their teacher’s directions (e.g., quiet place, free of distractions with needed technology, etc.).

We know it’s difficult to watch your child struggle, even if that struggle is productive. We’re asking for your trust that the best ways to help us meet your child’s unique needs this year are to help prepare them before the Diagnostic and to allow them the opportunity to demonstrate their learning independently during the Diagnostic. Thank you again for your cooperation as we work together to grow your child’s learning in this unprecedented time.

NVCS Library Books

We have been so busy collecting, sanitizing and reshelving our books from last year. We are so excited to start the check out process again, but first we need to have all of our books returned and inventoried.

If you have books that belong to NVCS, please bring them to either campus. If it is outside of office hours, just drop it in our mailbox. You will know it is an NVCS book if it has a barcode with our name on it. Most books also have our school stamp on the inside cover.

If you are having trouble locating your books, or they have been destroyed, please let us know. Your honest communication with us will help us to understand what we can expect to come back, and what is gone for good.

As always, thank you for your continued support of our Libraries and the love of reading.
