Principal's Message
Please join us on Tuesday, September 11th from 4:00 - 5:30 pm to meet your St. John Paul II staff - we look forward to seeing everyone!
We will begin our evening at 4:00 pm, where your child can show you around the building and introduce you to their teacher. Teachers will be in their classroom from 4:00pm - 4:30pm. At 4:30pm in the main gym, feel free to join us as Mr. Stecyk introduces the entire staff. Afterwards, teachers will return to their classrooms for your convenience until 5:30pm. We realize that we have already had an Open House in the Spring and a Grade 5 Orientation in August, so feel free to join us for all or part of the evening as it will be an informal evening of meet-and-greet.
Chaplain's Corner
23rd Sunday of Ordinary Time (B)
Hello and welcome to the St. JP II Chaplain’s Corner. My name is Vernon Brady and I am blessed to be the school chaplain this year. I am super excited to introduce you to our faith theme shared by all EICS schools this year. Our theme comes from Ephesians 2:10. “We are all God’s Masterpiece.” This is a message that God wants us to embrace. God’s greatest masterpiece isn’t some of the sunsets you may have had the privilege of seeing, or the Alps (as spectacular as they are), or the islands of Hawaii and Tahiti (as gorgeous and beautiful as they can be). God’s greatest masterpiece of creation is you. And it is me. We are God’s greatest masterpieces. The blessing of being in a Catholic school is that we get to remind each other that we are ALL made in the image and likeness of God. Thus our school community strives to ensure that all are celebrated for what they have in common while also celebrating each individual’s uniqueness. We would like to invite all parents/guardians to join our school community this Wednesday as we celebrate our school opening mass at OLA parish. Mass begins at 9:15 am. May this week be filled with many new discoveries, building of new and old friendships all wrapped up in God’s Loving Embrace. Have a Blessed week.

Sacramental Preparation at OLA Parish
On behalf of the Sacramental Preparation Committee, we wish to welcome all those preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist or Confirmation in the 2018 - 2019 school year.
We encourage and invite all families to join us for 11:00 am Mass this Sunday, September 9th. We will be hosting an Information Session immediately following fellowship (approximately 12:30 pm), which will include a variety of information regarding all three of these Sacraments, as well as a special guest speaker. There will also be a Meet and Greet for Father Kristopher, our new parish pastor, to welcome him to our Faith Community.
We encourage all families with a child who is going to be completing any of the Sacraments during the 2018 - 2019 school year to join us.

WHAT IS ORANGE SHIRT DAY?
Orange Shirt Day is a growing movement of reconciliation that grew out of a former student’s account of having her brand-new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school. Wearing an Orange Shirt is meant to recognize the harm done to residential school students, and show a commitment to the principle that every child matters.
Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools, and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.
You are invited to wear an orange shirt on Friday, September 28th!
