Inter's Third Grade Newsletter!
September 21st-September 25th
This week in Singapore Math!
This week will be a continuation of the Benchmark review and then we will start Chapter 6- Multiplication Tables of 6,7,8 and 9. We will split the Benchmark Exam over two days, Tuesday, September 22nd, and Wednesday, September 23rd. Please review the Cumulative Smarty Pants Review Chapters 1-5 with your child. Although this is optional, the review serves as an excellent resource to prepare your child for the upcoming test.
This week in Literacy by Design!
We are continuing to work on the comprehension strategy, Infer: Using your own ideas to help you understand what you read. For Grammar, students will learn different types of sentences, including Declarative and Interrogative. Also, we will review compound, and complex sentences. We will review Digraphs-two letters making one sound, such as CH, SH, and WH.
This week in Writing!
This week we will write a Biography! We have researched a famous person and now are starting to draft a Biography. In technology students will have the chance to research and publish their Biographies.
This week in Science!
Students will continue the Motion and Matter Investigation: Magnetic Forces. Students will use data to predict how far the magnetic field extends around two magnets. Also, using Science A-Z, students will write a paragraph to support their opinion on the focus question: Would magnets be useful for helping students pick up trash on Help the "Planet Day?" Then the students will engage in an oral discussion to support their opinions.
