Flowery Flyer

Week of 11/16/15

Weekly Recap

The weeks are flying by! We are 5 instructional days away from a well-deserved Thanksgiving break and it's a count down to sending home 1st trimester report cards. Weeks like this can feel intense when a deadline is looming overhead. How do I cope with deadlines? Lately I have been using an app called Todoist that links to my gmail and google calendar. I try and chunk my projects into manageable tasks and then assign realistic "soft" deadlines as I call them. I'm not 100% by any means, but I am getting better at managing the complexity of my work. As you wrap up report cards, remember to set realistic deadlines. Set a goal for the day and do the best you can to meet your goal. Then breathe! You simply can't do it all. None of us can. As always, take care of your health and your family!

Updates

Last Tuesday, we had a group of visitors from Bellevue School District in Santa Rosa. I sent an email to Flowery Staff and then realized something went wrong with the email. Thanks to Dora-Aldina's genius detective work, she figured out I sent it to the Google staff calendar. Woops! No wonder I had many people wondering who the visitors were and why they were here visiting???!!!! I apologize for the mishap as I always like to give advance notice. Nonetheless, the visitors enjoyed touring classrooms and are looking forward to starting a dual immersion program in their own district.

See the quote below, this hit me like a ton of bricks when I read it. I had a major a-ha moment and reflected on how this can occur day to day without even realizing it. Our kids deserve the space to move through these stages just as we allow ourselves.
