Congratulations, Girls Swim Team
The Buffett Girls Swim team started competitions in October with a limited practice schedule. They showed hard work and determination and made a lot of growth this season. 7th grader Violet Turner placed 2nd in the 50 butterfly and 2nd in the free relay. We had a 7th grade inclusive free relay team that worked together and swam their personal best at City. 8th graders Jade Lopez Ramirez and Addy Ramirez-Preciado both swam the longest race, the 200 free, this season for the first time and crushed it! All girls did a great job of cheering on others, working together, being their best, and represented Buffett proudly!

SPRING PLAY AUDITIONS
The Buffett Drama Department will be holding auditions for the spring play, House of Cards, on December 13th and 14th. Here is a brief description of the play:
Seventeen students arrive at school in the morning and go through their day from opening their lockers, to passing in the hallways between classes, to lunchroom encounters, to their exit at the end of the day. Each character is a number representation from a deck of cards, and that number is their character name and value in the hierarchy of the student body. With ace being the lowest and king being the highest, we see, through intermingled scenes and monologues, the characters expressing their individual positions and feelings as to what it is like to be the value of the card that they represent. The entire action of the play is controlled by a joker who serves as the narrator.
The play is open to all 5th - 8th grade students.
Audition information can be found in your student's email inbox from Mr. Miller.

Students will receive an email after school on January 9th if they are moving onto the next step of the competition.

NSCAS Data and AQuESTT Classifications Information
In November, the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) released state test scores for the 2021-22 school year. You may hear it referred to as “NSCAS,” or the Nebraska Student Centered Assessment System.
NDE classifies schools across our state from “Needs Improvement” to “Excellent.” State test scores, student academic growth, English language proficiency and attendance in the school determine each school’s classification.
If your student is in a grade that takes the NSCAS test, your family has received information about your child’s individual performance. If you have questions, please contact your student’s teacher(s). We encourage all families to regularly review Measures of Academic Progress, or MAP data. MAP is a test that students take more frequently – with data available immediately. It is a proven source of information about your student’s current strengths and opportunities in the classroom.
Student data has always guided our instruction. We are constantly working to build on our instruction and improve outcomes for all students.
