Andrew Jackson is not a hero
Jackson is truly NOT a hero
How Jackson effected the Natives
Jackson evicted the cherokee, who modeled their society after that of the whites around them, from Georgia and forced them west toward the Trail of Tears to settle in Oklahoma. There land was then divided by developers and sold to the whites. The Natives were treated disrespectfully and very poorly.
In USA polotics is something called the spoil system. The spoil system is where whenever you win a election, it gives government jobs to its voters as a reward for working toward victory and as an incentive to keep working for the party. It also was when Jackson gave other people government jobs.
Jackson not doing a thing about slavery while president!
The Hermitage was 1000 acre, self sustaining plantation that relied completely on the labor of enslaved men, women, and children. They all did hard labor that produced the Heritages cash crop ,cotton. The more land he bought the more slaves he got. The slaves were now working on a daily basis.

Andrew Jackson - Political Cartoon
This cartoon (below) illustrates Andrew Jackson and the Spoil System. His motto was "To the Victor belong the spoils". For example, one of the first acts he did was fire several federal employees, some of which had been there for years (since the days of George Washington).
