First Full Week of Remote Learning
Teachers spent an enormous amount of time preparing for this week and it was apparent in each and every Google classroom. Students put forth a tremendous amount of effort to work closely with their teachers in all subjects. Parents, I know how difficult your job has been and we all appreciate the support. I have attached an article that includes some tips for remote learning for families from Common Sense Education.
Please remember the mute button.
Glenwood is Title 1 School
Missing a remote learning lesson
Due to this, teachers will do their best to meet the needs of our students who are absent from their remote classes. We may offer access to some other learning resource, such as a video explaining the math concept, or the science topic, or whatever it is that we want students to learn in the lesson. We can also supply students with other resources that explain what was taught in class. This might be reading from a textbook, or reading from some other source.

WRSD TECHNOLOGY HELP CENTER
To assist with some of the challenges of remote learning, we have developed a technology support website for families. It contains basic information on accessing the major learning platforms our students will use and also provides a means by which parents can contact the technology staff for support. Please follow the link below to visit the site.
Hybrid Learning and Transportation Selections
The district must receive hybrid learning and transportation information for each student in your household.
To collect this information, we have added a form in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Please follow these instructions to submit the form for each of your students.
- Parents and guardians must log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal through a web browser (not the mobile app) by following this link: https://ps.wrsd.net
- This form must be completed separately for each student.
- In the Parent Portal, click Forms in the left column.
- On the Forms page, click on the Hybrid Learning and Transportation form.
- Complete the form and click Submit.
- If you have more than one student, click on the next student’s name at the top of the portal and repeat the process for each student.

News from Mrs. Lawton BSN,RN,NCSN
I have missed all of our students’s smiling faces so much! It has been a while since we have seen each other so I wanted to send a few reminders to help keep our return to school a smooth, healthy and safe transition.
Medication/ Epi-pen Drop Off:
Wednesday, 9/30 will be designated for Parents to drop off medications, as well as the parent medication order forms and the Physician’s orders. This also applies to students with allergies who require an Epi-pen. For hybrid learning beginning on November 18th parents are welcome to drop off medications on 9/30 or 11/16. Please make sure you make an appointment prior to dropping off medications.
Please be sure to have all current documentation and allergy plans signed by the Physician and ready when the medication is dropped off.
Updated Physicals and Immunizations:
All Grade 4 students are required by law to have an updated MD physical and immunizations. Any documentation of recent immunizations and updated MD physicals can be sent in/or you can email the updated MD physical to me also.
***If you have a Religious or Medical exemption, documentation of that is required yearly.
It is required now in the State of Massachusetts for all students who are attending school, have the Influenza vaccine by December 31, 2020. Please send along the documentation of their flu vaccines.
Please keep the Nurse updated with any changes in your child’s health or conditions.
Masks:
As we begin this new year, we are returning to school with masks. Sending along an extra mask in your child’s backpack in a labeled ziploc bag is a great way to ensure they have a replacement, should the original mask become soiled or misplaced.
I am looking forward to seeing all of our students! Please check out our “ Health Services” tab on the website.
Stay Healthy!

THE POWER OF POSITIVITY-
REMOTE LEARNING is HARD. It has been a challenge for everyone, but GREAT things can HAPPEN from anything difficult if we try to stay POSITIVE and WORK TOGETHER. Positivity does not mean trying to always be happy, because that is something that is just not human- but to try to name or NOTICE what is GOOD, BUILD from that and FOCUS on your STRENGTH.
Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory- Dr. Seuss
