Howell Student Charley Herman Recognized By DEA For Awareness Walk Efforts

Congrats to our very own Charley Herman for her efforts to organzie the 1st Annual Heroin Awareness Walk! On May 1, DEA Special Agent Ryan Lawyer, Administrative Support Specialist Julie Conroy, and Diversion Outreach Coordinator Amanda Purdum presented Certificates of Appreciation to four St. Charles County seniors at the CAPS End of the Year Event. The DEA wanted to recognize (l-r) Amanda Evergerd, Anna Sorensen, Destiny Gerard and Charley Herman for their hard work and dedication to making the inaugural 2019 Heroin Awareness Walk such a big success. This was a huge undertaking by these young women who did everything from coordinating the event to securing sponsorships to hosting nearly 500 people at Legacy Park, Cottleville. This was no small feat and these ladies conquered it. DEA appreciates the attention they brought to such an important cause. In 2017, more than 72,000 Americans lost their lives to drug overdose. It’s imperative we talk about drug misuse and educate our communities, which is exactly what these young ladies did and we are certain they empowered at least one person at this event if not many, many more.
