LEADER IN ME - MEASURABLE RESULTS SURVEY
As a Leader in Me Lighthouse school we are always working to understand how we can improve.
Our annual Measurable Results Survey will be open to all parents beginning Monday, May 1 through Friday, May 26th. This survey is used to collect, analyze, and report school-level outcomes as they relate to improving leadership, culture, and academics. It helps us identify our strengths and weaknesses, develop improvement plans, and monitor progress. Staff and students in grades 4-5 will be surveyed, as well. All of your responses are completely anonymous.
Our goal is for at least 54 families to respond to the survey. We need about 15 more families to reach our goal.
The survey should take you approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Thank you!
Link to survey: https://www.leaderinme.com/s/silver-springs-elem-mi/families
Thank you so much for your support!!

The Lorax Project
The annual Lorax Project is scheduled to start in a couple of weeks. It will be the week of May 15-19th. For those who are new, The Lorax Project was started years ago by a Silver Springs teacher who wanted to beautify the grounds around our school. It has since become an annual tradition. Every spring the kids take pride in working together to clean up around the school. It's a great example of the power of Habit 6: Synergize!
During our Lorax week, every grade will be assigned an area around the school and each teacher will schedule at least one hour to work in that area.
We are looking for a couple of parents to work with each class to ensure everything gets done. We would like people who share our enthusiasm for gardening to provide direction and focus for the kids as they work (ex: weeds vs. flowers). If you are available and interested in helping, please contact your child's classroom teacher. Thank you!

Bus Evacuation Practice - May 1st
Re: School Bus Safety Awareness
Dear Parents:
Transporting students safely is always the most important issue to those of us in school bus
transportation. We believe that knowing what to do in the case of an emergency is critical to the student’s safety. Just as students practice fire drills in the school buildings, the students should also practice evacuation drills on our school buses.
This is important knowledge that every school bus rider should have in the case of an emergency.
With the consent of the Principal and the assistance of staff, your driver will be conducting front door emergency evacuation drills on school property the week of April 24 th , 2023. Of course, we will take every precaution to ensure your child’s safety.
The schedule will be as follows.
Monday, April 24 th - Moraine
Tuesday, April 25 th – Thornton Creek
Wednesday, April 26 th - Ridgewood
Thursday, April 27 th – Winchester
Friday, April 28 th - Amerman
Monday, May 1 st – Silver Springs
Thank you in advance for allowing your child to participate in our school bus safety education drills. We appreciate your continued support of our transportation program. If you have any questions concerning this process, please contact the Customer Service Center at 248-465-2070.
Sincerely, Kind Regards,
David Knox

🗳 🗳 🗳 🗳The Silver Springs PTA wants to make sure you save the date, May 2, 20223, for this important election. The only issue on the ballot is the 2023 bond for Northville Public Schools. 🗳 🗳 🗳 🗳 🗳
The proposal is for zero increase to the current debt millage rate, so residents’ taxes will not go up. The bond proposal focuses on program enhancements, technology upgrades, and infrastructure upgrades to make comparable opportunities for all students in our district.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK!
Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up: May 8-12!
**Please note that the date has change to align with the national Teacher Appreciation Week dates.
This is a great opportunity to show our amazing staff how much we appreciate the hard work they do all year long for our students.
The PTA is partnering with Mrs. Booth to make sure the staff feel extra loved and appreciated that week. Here are few things we’re organizing. Please look for more information to come and a flyer in Monday envelopes on May 1.
These are some of the activities that your student(s) can do to show love and support for our staff. As always, these activities are optional and voluntary. The best gifts are ones from students’ hearts, and do not need to cost a thing.
Due Friday, May 5 – Spread sunshine! Write a note with a shout out, a compliment, or a thank you to your teacher. On Monday, May 1, PTA will send home a sunshine-shaped note card in every student’s Monday envelope. Please have students write on the sunshine and send it back to school by Friday, May 5. The PTA will collect the sunshine notes and post them on a big display in the main hallway for everyone to read during Teacher Appreciation Week.
Monday, May 9 – Please send in one small, sweet treat, a favorite beverage, or candy. See the Teachers’ Favorites List.
Wednesday, May 10 – Please wear your teacher’s favorite color! See the Teachers’ Favorites List.
Thursday, May 11 – Please send in one requested classroom supply. See the Teachers’ Favorites List.
Friday, May 12 – Bring your family to the Silver Springs Multicultural Festival from 6:00-8:00pm and celebrate the beautiful diversity of our school community!

PTA E-BOARD ELECTIONS
The Silver Springs PTA needs a few volunteers to join the E-Board for the 2022-2023 school year. We welcome fresh faces and new ideas! Whatever your time availability, skills, and talents are, you can make a big impact on the PTA E-Board.
It would be awesome to have some diversity in the types of people, skills, and interests, that make up our E-board. Some people choose to have a very front-facing role, planning events, volunteering at school, etc. Some people choose to have a more behind-the-scenes job, like updating the budget or drafting advertising and promotions on their computer in their home office.
Love Excel and budget numbers? We need you! We can’t run a PTA (which is a 501C3 non-profit) without a treasurer in place.
Please check out the flyer for more info!
Elections are at the last PTA meeting of the year:
Thursday, June 1 at 6:30pm in the SS media center.
BIRTHDAY LUNCHES
The Birthday Lunch program is a fun way to celebrate your child’s special day and the funds raised from this program directly benefit PTA programs. Win-win!
To sign up and select your date, parents may submit a request form and a donation (any amount) to the PTA. Or, it’s even easier to sign up and donate online.
On your child’s day, you can come and join them for lunch! Some parents choose to bring a special lunch or a treat.
You get to sit at the Birthday Lunch table near the MPR, which will be decorated with a tablecloth and birthday napkins.
🗓 Please sign up for this program at least two weeks in advance!
✅ Book as soon as possible to get your spot, even if your requested date is later in the year. The schedule fills up fast!
☎️ Also, if you need to cancel due to illness, etc., please notify Kate Rundell at silverspringspta@gmail.com. Our volunteers arrange their schedule to be there and it’s very frustrating to have a no-show.
JOIN THE PTA
All are welcome, whether you want to be involved hardly at all or a whole lot! Visit our Membership Page for all the details
