LVUSD Board Unanimously Approves Bond Measure for March Election
On December 3rd, the LVUSD Board of Education voted unanimously to place a bond measure on the March 3, 2020 ballot. This safety, repair and career readiness measure, Measure V, is priced at $ .02 per $100 of assessed value, and if passed, will bring in $198 million dollars in local funding for critically needed facilities needs.
Most of our schools were built in the 1960s and 1970s and have reached a critical point in their life cycle requiring significant improvements that the State of California will not fund. The District has prioritized the most pressing unmet needs our schools face.
This measure will help address our most time-sensitive safety, security, and educational facility needs, including:
- Improving instructional technology to keep classrooms up to date.
- Upgrading science and engineering labs, and career technical education facilities.
- Strengthening school safety, upgrading fire and disaster preparedness and emergency response systems.
- Repairing and replacing deteriorating roofs, plumbing, heating/air conditioning systems.
This measure contains critical accountability measures and annual audits that are required by law. No funds are allowed for salaries or pensions. An independent Citizens Oversight Committee will ensure that this measure only funds projects that voters approve and that all funds remain local, benefiting only LVUSD schools.
Megan Glynn and Jill Gaines are co chairing this bond measure. Please do not hesitate to contact Megan or Jill with any questions, or if you want to help:
