Note From Miss Rutan:

Spring is coming and it is my favorite time of year. The joy the sunshine brings on the playground and around the building is contagious. Our students are busy working and learning every day. During our collaboration and in-service days, our staff has been focused this year on creating a system of writing that progresses through each grade level. We want to ensure our students are having a common academic experience in the area of writing. Our staff continually impresses me with their constant ability to reflect and build their capacity as educators.

Frontier Needs

Snacks for the primary classrooms

Our Kindergarten-2nd grade classrooms provide snack for our students during the day. If you would like to donate snack items to the school/classroom, we would accept and appreciate them greatly. We have been running low and this would be a great help to our school.

Congratulations to Mary Allen (Teacher) and Laura Foster (Classified) for being recognized by their peers for their excellent performance and commitment to Frontier. We are so lucky to have both of these wonderful ladies impacting the lives of our students.

4th/5th Music Performance - March 16th @ 10:00 am

Frontier usually does a Veteran's Day music performance in November. With the state of the community with COVID-19 at the time, we had chosen to cancel the performance. We are now in a place where we feel it is time to have a performance with our upper grades for our families. We hope you are able to attend our in-person performance on March 16th @ 10:00 am.

NO School - March 18th, April 25th, and May 30th

March 18th - End of 3rd Quarter/Teacher In-Service

April 25th - Collaboration Day

May 30th - Memorial Day

June 3rd - Last Day of School (Early Release)

Kindergarten Registration - April 8th

Kindergarten Registration is scheduled for April 8th. If you have an upcoming Kindergartner or you know someone who does, please put this date on the calendar.


Please complete the one-page pre-registration form by going to www. westada.org - Parent & Students - Registration & Forms - New Student Online Registration Portal.


Once the pre-registration is done, you will receive an email on how to complete the rest of PowerSchool and Documents needed.

Box Tops for Frontier

We will once again be collecting box tops for Frontier. Box Tops has moved to a digital way to collect those tops for schools. The process is to download the app, then scan your receipts and all box tops will go to the school you designate. Frontier has always had high participation in this program and we appreciate the continued support.
Big picture

Varnish Clinic - April 4th

Central District Health Department has some extra funding and has offered to come to our school to do a fluoride varnish clinic. Forms will be sent home with your child that parents/guardians can fill out and sign. Please return forms regardless of accepting or denying participation by March 17th. Students will receive an individual prize if they return the form. If the student has insurance or Medicaid they will be billed. Parents will not be billed for anything that is not covered. Students without insurance will not be billed. Only students who accept participation in the clinic will be seen. The last few years have been hard on children, and many have found it difficult to go to the dentist. We are aware that dental decay is the most prevalent disease affecting childhood contributing to a loss of productive learning hours! It is our hope that we can assist in helping children by strengthening their teeth and help referring those in need of care.

March Popcorn Day - March 17th

Our March popcorn day will be on Thursday, March 17th (no school on Friday the 18th). Popcorn is $.50 a bag. PTO will also be selling smelly pencils for $1 during last recess.

Title I Information

Below is a link to information regarding our Title I program at Frontier Elementary. Title I is a vital part to our success and it is important for us to be able to share information about this program to our families.

Parking Lot Procedures

Thank you to all of our community that help make our parking lot safe and efficient for our students and families. We wanted to note a couple of reminders for our new families.

* Please remain in your vehicle during pick up and drop off. If your child needs assistance, please park and walk them to the sidewalk. This helps keep the line moving for all of our families.

*If a staff member is waving you ahead, please pull forward to allow more cars up to the front drop off and pick up area.

*Children enter at the front of the parking lot and not on the sides, this is for safety. We have numbered signs to help efficiently have students ready for when their parents' car pulls up.

Transportation Changes

It is very important that we are aware of any transportation changes that occur. If your child is being picked up, when they normally ride the bus or other changes to the normal method, please make sure your child's teacher and the front office is made aware. We also ask that you let us know before noon if there is a change to the schedule for that specific day. We need to hear of any changes from the parent/guardian. Students can sometimes get confused on changes, so unless we hear from a parent we use the primary method of transportation.
