Types of Digital Portfolios
Program Portfolios
Often graduate programs use digital portfolios as a tool to showcase what a student has learned. Typically these portfolios contain work from start to end of the graduate program. The type of work included might include academic papers and other work the student has created through the course of the program. (Donaldson, 2014)
Course Portfolios
This type of portfolio is usually created over the course of one quarter or semester and contain a culmination of artifacts that have been created week by week. In k-12 they may cover the entire year. These portfolio's may have a specific theme that pertains to the material in the course. (Donaldson, 2014)
Project Portfolios
This type of portfolios contain artifacts which demonstrate the competence or expertise of the individual. The project portfolio is usually related to one project and the time frame may vary from several days to several months. (Donaldson, 2014)
