Dear CJHS Students and Families,
Welcome to the Clarkston Junior High School Counseling Department's newsletter! We wanted to use this first issue to introduce the staff and provide some resources for parents and students. Throughout the year, you will find information about events, college information, upcoming deadlines, and various resources for students and parents.
Below you will find quick biographies for the Clarkston Junior High School Social-Emotional Team/Counseling Department. We often team up to help students with various issues.

Meet The Team
Mrs. Sarah Hester, Counselor A-G
Hi CJHS! I am Mrs. Hester. I am the School Counselor for students with last names A-G. My role is to help students with academic concerns, college/career goals and socio-emotional needs. This is my 3rd year at CJHS, but my 13th year in education. I graduated from Oakland University with my Undergraduate Degree in History and Minor in Sociology, and DePaul University for my Masters Degree in School and Community Counseling. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, tennis, traveling, swimming, and taking long walks. I can’t wait to get to know you.

Mrs. Shannon Donnellon, Counselor H-O
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, especially in East Lansing where I am a season ticket holder for MSU football. I am a sports enthusiast, Netflix/Hulu watcher, enjoy cooking and also love to shop and travel. I recently got married in July 2020! So you may also see my maiden name of Barney within district communication (until I am able to legally change it).
If you see me, please come say hi as I can’t wait to meet you all!!!

Mr. Jacob Arendsen, Counselor P-Z
Hello! I am Mr. Arendsen. I am the counselor for last names P-Z. This is my 5th year at CJHS and 7th year within the district. Before my time at CJHS I was a counselor at Clarkston HS.
At home, I have a family of three. My wife is a teacher in Rochester schools and my son is 3 years old. We enjoy our summer vacations to Northern Michigan and in the fall I enjoy hunting and fishing. Two things I really enjoy: donuts and mounds candy bars!
I graduated from Oakland University with a Major in Sociology and Psychology. I also completed my masters degree at OU as well.
I look forward to seeing you back at school soon!
