School / Family Newsletter - May 2021
Principal's Message
This month we have a lot to celebrate! Join us in appreciating our amazing teachers with Teacher Appreciation Week from Monday, 5/3 thru Friday, 5/7. This month, we will also honor our Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders as our governing board has adopted a resolution, announcing the month of May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Month! The week of May 17th - May 21, we celebrate all of our Classified Staff (teacher's assistants, campus support specialists, office clerks, custodians and family center staff) during Classified Employee Appreciation Week. Let our staff know how much you appreciate them!
May is a busy month! We will also begin our state testing (SBAC) for our 3rd - 5th graders on Tuesday, 5/4. They will test in English Language Arts and Math from Tuesday thru Friday. Later in May, the week of May 17th, our middle school students (6th - 8th Grade) will begin their state testing too! We ask our families to ensure your child attends to school regularly, is on time and is prepared for the day. Help us by ensuring your child has a good night's sleep and has a nutritious breakfast before coming to school.
In addition to all of the things happening as I described above, there's one more thing to throw into the mix here. Assuming Marin County will enter the yellow tier on Wednesday, 5/5, all San Rafael City Schools, including Venetia Valley will begin full-time in-person learning. This means your child will come to school from 8:45 AM to 3:15 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesdays. On Wednesdays, your children will attend school from 8:45 AM to 1:30 PM. We will not have staggered arrivals or dismissals anymore, but we will make sure the students are entering the campus through their assigned gates/entry way. Children will also be served a regular lunch meal in the cafeteria and breakfast will be available in the cafeteria starting at 8:05 AM each day (beginning May 10th). Stand by for more information once we have additional details when Marin County makes their announcement on Tuesday, 5/4.
Thank you all for your continued support throughout this unprecedented school year!
Sincerely,
Principal Quesada
