Reid Elementary is collecting canned goods and nonperishable foods for the Goodrich Lions Club. The LAST DAY of our collection is Monday, November 21st. The lions club will be distributing the canned goods that we collect to several local food pantries before the Holiday Season! Our classes are competing to see who can collect the most items, the winning class gets an extra recess with Mrs. Jordan!!!

Safety Drills

At Reid Elementary we are required to practice safety drills. We will practice fire, tornado, and lockdown drills. Drills are a chance for our whole school family to practice what we would do in an emergency situation. Our hope is that we never have to put these practices into real-life situations, but we always want to be prepared. Please talk to your child about these drills and the importance of practice.

December Fun!

Get excited! We will be having a lot of fun in December. Follow the calendar below to participate in some building-wide fun!

Technology Corner

Our theme this month for technology is relationships and communication/ professionalism. Online communication facilitates positive interactions, such as sharing ideas with many people, but the public and anonymous nature of online communication also allows intimidating and inappropriate behavior in the form of cyberbullying. Students could share their work on blogs or in other collaborative spaces online, taking care to avoid sharing information that is inappropriate or that could personally identify them to others. Students could provide feedback to others on their work in a kind and respectful manner and could tell an adult if others are sharing things they should not share or are treating others in an unkind or disrespectful manner on online collaborative spaces.

Transportation

A.M. Drop-off will begin at 8:30 a.m. The same procedures for lining up will continue. The change you will notice is that cars will pull up in front of the gym doors to release students. You will not be releasing students at the bottom of the hill. They will no longer walk up the ramp.

P.M. Pick-up will start at 3:50. The same procedures for lining up will continue. The change you will notice is that cars will pull up in front of the gym doors to pick up students. Once our buses pull away, cars will pull into our bus lane, in front of the gym doors. Staff will be there to call students from the gym and release them to your vehicle.

IMPORTANT: If you are the first car in the caravan line, you will need to pull all the way up to the exit (Erie Street) and WAIT for the buses to pull away, BEFORE you start the line moving. Stay parked and wait in the driveway, do not pull out on Erie or block residential driveways. DO NOT pull up behind the buses when they are unloading/loading students.

Please make sure your caravan cards are cut and in your car, visible in the passenger side window before pulling up to pick up your child. If you need to help your child buckle, please pull forward and turn right on Seneca St. to stop, please do not hold up the entire caravan line.

See the map below for guidance.

It is not kind to cut the line in front of others. Please be patient, wait your turn and follow the procedures (just like we teach our students).

Our school bus system is always an option for families that do not want to be involved in the drop-off/pick-up procedures (actually your students will probably get home faster). Please call the bus garage to get your child set up (810-591-3454). Even school of choice kids have bus stop options.

Early office pick-ups are not allowed. If you need to pick up your student early in the office, they will be marked accordingly in the attendance system.
