OLVCS Updates
Led By the Spirit..........................February 27, 2020
Good morning,
Papa Johns Pizza will be the lunch tomorrow, there will not be a hot dog offered.
Tomorrow is also an Out of Uniform Day... (Dress Down Day)
I have asked homeroom teachers to send the following message, but want to include it here too. The visit from the MSA Team will mark the end of the self-study, but will give us a focused strategic plan moving forward for the next seven years.
We began the process of re-accreditation in 2018 when we surveyed parents, students and faculty on various researched based performance standards. Since that time we have worked as a staff using survey results and our own self-evaluation to write a self study that the team will review.
It is a great exercise in looking at what we do well, what we do that may need tweaking and what goals we like to implement for future growth. The team will spend Monday, March 2nd through Wednesday, March 4th looking at all aspects of the school.
On Wednesday we are required by Middle States Association to dismiss students early so that the team has time to present their report to the faculty and staff.
Wednesday, March 4th we will dismiss at 11:00. Students will not be served lunch, and there will be no ASAP.
Most districts are accommodating the dismissal time with bussing the exceptions are Bellefonte and Penns Valley. We have been in touch with those families. Please be sure to send a note to school with changes in dismissal plans for Wednesday.
Make it a Great Day!

The Box Tops Program has gone digital! Get the App and help OLV
You will need to get the BoxTops app on your phone, sign up indicating OLV as preferred school and then scan your store receipts.
- It is a very simple process to scan your receipt.
- The app will automatically determine if your receipt contains BoxTops products and will give the school credit for the purchases.
If you are not sure if you purchased any BoxTops products, you can still scan your receipt and the app will just state that there are no eligible products. There are ongoing promotions and sweepstakes in the app as well that will earn the school additional money.

This month-long physical activity community challenge is an easy and fun way to get active with your family. Your family can include parents, kids, grandparents, dogs, colleagues, or friends. Any twosome or more can count as a “family.” Singles are welcome too, we just know getting active is more fun with a buddy.
To participate, families – parents, grandparents, children, colleagues or friends – should register at centremoves.org, exercise at least 15 times for 15 minutes each between March 1 -31, and log workouts to be entered to win a variety of prizes.
Grand prize items, generously donated by area businesses, include:
- a one-year Centre County YMCA family membership;
- guided fly fishing trip for two, courtesy of American Fly Fishing Company
- $50 Hoss’s Steak & Sea House gift cards
- fitness kit courtesy of Community Engagement Office State College

- four $25 gift certificates to Get Air
Plus, those registered for Fit Families Challenge can sign up for a Centre County YMCA “Be Our Guest” pass for the month of March.
This year Centre Moves is partnering with MoveSpring to make the Fit Families Challenge entirely electronic. With MoveSpring, participants will be able to create a team group (i.e. your family), compete in mini challenges against others, set new goals and watch progress over time. Participants can download the MoveSpring app to connect smartphones, smartwatches, wearable devices to automatically track activity. Tracking can also be manually entered online.
