Hello to our Northpoint Families,
Last week we officially began fall in Minnesota. Along with the beautiful trees and comfortable sunny days, school getting into full swing is a sure sign of autumn.
Here at Northpoint, our students are beginning their first full year using our new reading resource, Wit and Wisdom. You may recall we introduced this resource last winter, and the children enjoyed learning to read through the use of authentic, meaningful, and engaging text. This fall our students will participate in discussing and writing about what they have read. Ask your children about their learning. I’m certain they will have a lot to say!
COVID-19 continues to be prominent throughout the community. We continue to experience high transmission in Anoka County, and we do have active cases. The numbers are updated each Wednesday on the COVID-19 hub. Northpoint is not at a point for any next steps in mitigation.
We must continue to ask for your help:
- Please keep your child at home if they have symptoms. If they come to school with symptoms, we will isolate them and send them home.
- Please keep your child at home if you are waiting for a COVID test result.
- Please keep in contact with us. If your child is sick and/or in the process of getting a COVID test, please notify our health office. This helps us understand what is happening within our school community to help keep our environment safe for all.
We want nothing more than to keep in-person learning going for all students with minimal disruptions. This is a goal that takes all of us. Thank you for continuing to support these protocols and for ensuring your child has a mask each day. Our students are doing a wonderful job in meeting the expectation of wearing a mask when asked.
Homecoming week is October 4-8. We are excited to come together as a school community and celebrate the following spirit days next week:
- Monday, October 4 - Channel your inner lumberjack - Wear plaids, denim, work boots, suspenders, and a stocking hat. Channeling your Paul or Paula Bunyan!
- Tuesday, October 5 - HOUSE colors - represent your team by wearing your assigned house color
- Wednesday, October 6 - Dress down day - how comfortable can you get and still be school-appropriate? Sweats, old jeans and a tee-shirt, comfy shoes, a favorite hat, or easy hair do?
- Thursday, October 7- Crazy pattern day - how many different patterns can you include in your outfit today?
- Friday, October 8 - Rock your SLP spirit - Wear your Panther gear or dress in red, white and blue!
Have a great week, everyone!
