Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
Today was an exciting day at Lions Park! We held a mock election to vote on a song to play at the Roar and Run next week to welcome our new lion mascot. This mock election was made possible by our PTO Civic Engagement Committee, chaired by Vicki Chung, and by the League of Women Voters. We are looking forward to a wonderful Roar and Run on Friday, October 11th. We hold this event indoors, so we do not have space for spectators. However, all are welcome at our Fun Run in the spring.
It is difficult to believe, but today is the midpoint of our first trimester. We will be sending home progress reports with all fifth graders today. We will only send progress reports for second, third and fourth graders who are not making adequate progress academically, behaviorally, or socially. This information is provided with the goal of giving families an opportunity to set goals for improvement. Please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher if you receive a progress report and wish to discuss your child's progress further with him or her.
We will be celebrating Halloween on October 31st at Lions Park. We will be celebrating with a parade for all at 1:30pm and parties immediately following the parade. All parents are welcome to attend the parade, but the parties are only for students and the room parents who planned the parties. Costumes are only to be worn in the afternoon. If you are planning to bring your child home for lunch, there will be form sent out in the October 18th newsletter.
Our parent and teacher conferences are quickly approaching on November 19th, 20th and 21st. If you have not already done so, please sign up at this link. On the top right of each page, there is a drop-down menu that will allow you to access all of the different grade levels. Once you have selected the desired grade level, then you can select your child's teacher from the tabs at the top. We look forward to this opportunity to discuss your student's growth.
In our continued efforts to ensure the safety of all students at pick up and drop off, I want to remind you that School Street is one way heading south in the mornings and afternoons. You can't legally make a U-turn on that street during the drop off and pick up times.
Lions Park is now on Twitter and Instagram. Please follow us on one or both!
