First Week Celebrations
Thank you for making the first two days of school a success for your child. Our staff have been excited by how engaged students are online. Teachers are prioritizing making connections and building relationships as a classroom as well as helping students navigate the new technology.
We are continuing to supply Chromebooks and hotspots to students who need them. We will have additional hotspots by September 14 if you have not received one yet.
Finally, thank you again families for all of your support and the strong partnership this year. We know this can be stressful as we begin this online learning journey and technology can be unpredictable. Please reach out to us if you need anything at 360-629-1270 or tceinfo@stanwood.wednet.edu.
Online Google Meet Schedule
Specialists will provide 20 minute Google Meets for Library, Music & PE. Use teacher Google Meet Code to join. Technology specialists will be prerecorded lessons provided through Seesaw and Google Classroom.
On Wednesdays an optional, one hour Google Meet is set up as office hours. Teachers will be available to answer student questions, provide support with assignments, or meet with parents to provide support.
Assignments in Seesaw & Google Classroom
In order to make it less overwhelming, the teachers will be color coding the days. Students need to focus on completing each day's videos and assignments one day at a time rather than trying to tackle it all at once. The coding is as follows:
- Thursday - Day One - Red Slides
- Friday - Day Two - Orange Slides
- Monday - Day Three - Green Slides
- Tuesday - Day Four - Blue Slides
- Wednesday - Day Five - Purple Slides

Character Strong
The month of September will be focused on KINDNESS. Through weekly lessons and activities we will help the students bring good things into their lives and our world through kind words, gifts and actions.
Counselor Corner with Mrs. Schwarze
Hooray! You began the journey this week of learning from a distance at your home or daycare! How did it go? How are you feeling? What could be better? Talk as a family this weekend about how the first couple days of learning at a distance went. Share your joys and frustrations, and then move onto your plan for next week. Grit is a word that describes our level of courage and resolve and strength of character. All of us are being stretched and challenged in new ways this year. Hold on tight to courage and your “I will try again” attitudes! These will take you a long way this year.
This year we again are taking a lot of time to focus on building our character. Each month we will again dive into a character trait and as you now know, KINDNESS, is the focus for September. Take some time this week as a family to watch a video about making kindness the norm. Talk together about ways to give out kindness on a daily basis. I will also be sharing about kindness every week this month in the Counselor Corner, which you can access through Seesaw. Your teacher has posted the link to the Counselor Corner there so you can access it anytime! I will be using this as a way to share coping techniques, ideas for managing feelings, and other helpful activities for taking care of your emotional wellness.
I am here to meet with students and parents via Google Meets as well. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns by email at jscwharze@stanwood.wednet.edu. Take care of yourself Tigers! We are all in this together.
