AVA Family Update
January 27, 2023
Good morning AVA Families,
Next week is another normal week.. The schedule is pictured below.
We have two big items this week. The first is MCAS, and I have already alerted all the students I expect to see next Wednesday and Thursday between 7:15 and 7:30 in the Principal's lobby of AHS. I will send another reminder early next week.
The second is the survey to identify where you are intending to go to school next year. For all students in grades 9 through 11, please fill out this form to get us going on your schedules for next year. Students must fill it out using their attleborops.net google accounts. It only takes a second. Please complete it by next Friday.
Although not a big item, information on the Winter Dance is included below, as well as our community and guidance updates. The guidance update offers more information for those returning to AHS in-person next fall and is worth your time to review. We know it's a lot, but Ms. Ng will be going through the process individually with all students over the next few weeks.
Thank you for your time.

Guidance Update
Grades 9-11 - AHS Course Offerings for Next Year
Once again, we strongly advise students and families who are interested in returning to AHS campus next school year to please read the following linked documents:
AHS Program of Studies 23-24 DRAFT - If you ever wondered what will be studied and done in courses like "Data Science" or "Philosophy", please check this document for detailed course descriptions.
Course Offerings Cheat Sheet - This is a compact list of courses that will be taught next year and is organized by graduating Class (e.g. Class of 2024).
AVA Guidance plans to start virtually meeting with AVA students who report interest in returning to AHS on the upcoming Googleform survey during the week of February 6th-10th in Advisory periods. This will likely be the only opportunity for AVA students to make AHS course requests, so please read the above documents carefully and be ready to attend Advisory next next week with your request selections and questions.
Grades 9-12 - NCAA Webinar Recording
If you/your family missed the NCAA information webinar from a couple of months ago, you can watch the recording online HERE and/or view the slideshow HERE. You will find information about the 3 different NCAA divisions as well as info about a COVID waiver for initial eligibility and how to register. Once again, we recommend that students who plan to play collegiate sports register with NCAA while still enrolled in high school to ensure a smoother transfer of school records and information. AVA's CEEB code for NCAA registration is: 220067.

Juniors - AHS Junior Planning Night
The AHS Guidance Department's annual Junior Planning Night is tentatively scheduled to be on campus on March 2, 2023. More details will follow in the upcoming weeks. All AVA 11th grade students and families are invited to attend, and the Guidance department will be going over what Juniors and families can do now to prepare for post-secondary planning and readiness.
Seniors - Like most weeks, be on the look out in your Attleboro student email for the AHS Guidance Dept. senior weekly update that will be emailed separately over the weekend.
As always, please email me at nng@attleboroschools.com with any comments, suggestions, and concerns, or to make a virtual meeting appointment. Have a warm, restful weekend!
