Bedminster Bobcat

March 2016

Thank You!

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of the students and staff at Bedminster for making my birthday so special. Under the guidance of Mrs. Lutz, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Capo, the students created a heart which represents our students' fingerprints. The center of the heart features of Bedminster Bobcat paw print. This gift truly touched my heart and will be one that I remember forever.

Thank You

Over the past few weeks, many wonderful Bedminster parents have volunteered to assist with recess coverage. On behalf of all the staff and students at Bedminster, I'd like to say thank you to all of those parents that have given their time to help out at recess. A very special thank you goes to Mrs. Gunning who has coordinated both the lunchroom and recess volunteer list via Sign-up Genius this school year. I'd like to welcome Mr. Cunningham to Bedminster. He started on February 23rd as our new playground aide.

Mrs. DiPaolo
Bedminster Principal

We have a fire lane designated in front of the building, which means this is a NO PARKING AREA AT ALL TIMES. In case of an emergency, this is the only access to our building for emergency vehicles. Please do not park in the fire lane. We have two visitors’ parking spots that we ask you use when visiting the school.

Honors Orchestra Concert

We would like to congratulate the following students who were selected to represent Bedminster at the first annual Pennridge Elementary Honors Orchestra Concert: Adria, Emily, Katelyn, Alex, Anna, Alma, Liam, Noelle, Scott, and Zachary. The concert was held on February 3, 2016 at 7:00 pm. These students went above and beyond expectations by learning the concert music given them and attending rehearsals outside of the school day. These students received a t-shirt and a medal for their fabulous efforts. Congratulations on a job well done!

Spirit Day - Neon Day

Friday, March 11th the 5th Grade Leadership would like everyone to wear neon colors.

Mrs. White's Third Grade class

Mrs. White's third grade class used the new iPads to document their findings during a geometric hunt. Students took photographs of line segments, parallel lines, right angles, and triangles that they found around the school. The students then shared their real life examples with the class. The I-Pads were a great addition from the Bedminster PTG that helped the third graders recognize that geometry is all around us!

NOVA's Encourage Program

Pennridge High School students are promoting positive messages to end bullying.

Student leaders from Pennridge High School have collaborated with Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) to create positive change in Bedminster Elementary School. Under the guidance of NOVA, Pennridge High School students were coached and trained to deliver NOVA’s Encourage program to elementary students in grades 1, 3, and 4. Encourage is an interactive bully prevention program that promotes and supports inclusion, empathy, and teamwork.

Research suggests that peer education draws on the credibility that young people have with their peers, leverages the power of role modeling, and supports the needs of today's youth.

All participants benefit. This program reduces bullying by generating change in attitudes and behaviors and also provides peer educators the opportunity for leadership training and public speaking.

This year’s peer educators were:

Grade 1: Liberty D. and Lauren S.

Grade 3: Chase B., Kira A., Olivia F., and Natalie P.

Grade 4: Kurt W., Connor M., Vanessa L., and Olivia G.
