PTO Meeting Monday at 6:30
Please join us Monday evening at 6:30 in the library. PfISD Superintendent, Dr. Killian or Deputy Superintendent, Dr. Gallow will be joining us to share a short presentation about the upcoming Bond and Tax Ratification election.
PfISD Bond and Tax Ratification Election
The Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees has unanimously called for two elections in November 2018: A Tax Ratification Election (TRE) and a $332 million bond election. The TRE proposes the PfISD tax rate be lowered by two cents and could result in an additional $4.1 million in state funding. To stay informed on these elections, visit www.pfisdbond.net.
Please note: The Bond/TRE website may be displayed in Spanish, by clicking on the Google Translate button at the bottom of the website homepage.

Carpe Diem Day
On Tuesday, October 23rd we will be celebrating our annual tradition of Carpe Diem Day. The phrase Carpe Diem comes from a poem by Horace (65 –8 BC), who was the leading Roman lyric poet during the time of Augustus. Per Wikipedia, carpe diem uses the Latin verb carpō in the sense of, "enjoy, seize, use, make use of".
In Horace, the phrase is part of the longer Carpe diem quam minimum credula postero – "Seize the Day, putting as little trust as possible in the future", and the ode says that the future is unforeseen and that instead, one should scale back one's hopes to a brief future.
We would like to take the time on Tuesday, October 23rd to remind everyone to truly live in the present, embracing the details that we all too often overlook in our daily efforts to just manage what is put before us. Join the Murchison community in wearing blue and open your senses to all that is around us, the colors of fall approaching, the smells of freshly cooked popcorn, the sounds of the HHS band practicing or joyous laughter of children, enjoying the coolness in the morning air, and indulging in one of your favorite meals, enjoying every bite. Do something that brings joy to you and those around you, and enjoy every minute of it.
Carpe Diem, Seize the Day, YOLO…make the most of it!
