Principal's Message
March 8, 2019
Dear Willink Families,
I knew when I started as interim principal at Willink back in October that two things would almost for certain be true; First, that I would love working here and enjoy my time at Willink, and secondly, that the time would fly by way too fast. Well, I have to say that I was right on both counts. My five months here at WMS have gone by way too fast and I have truly enjoyed my experience as the interim principal at this great school!
First and foremost, and the reason I still love being a school principal is the joy I get from working with kids. It doesn't really matter to me what age group or school level it is, I still, after more than 40 years as an educator, truly enjoy being around students and supporting them as they grow. I started out as a middle school (back then we called it junior high) teacher in 1975 and now here I am, 44 years later still loving it! As a son of two teachers, I guess it's fair to say it's in my blood!
In addition, it has been such a pleasure to meet and work with the absolutely fantastic faculty and staff here at Willink. As I said to Superintendent Gumina just the other day, one of the things I love about being an interim is all the new friends I make, and I consider all the wonderful people I have worked with these last 5 months to be in the large circle of new friends I now have in Webster!
The old saying "time flies when you are having fun" sure holds true for me. While being a school principal can be a challenging job, I have always enjoyed the challenge of helping kids learn and grow. My time here has just gone by way too quickly and it's not easy to say goodbye!
So I won't say goodbye, but instead, as my wife's grandma used to insist we say, "see you later!"
Thank you for all the support you provide to our schools in Webster and of course thank you for sharing your children with us every day at Willink Middle School. It has been a privilege to be part of this amazing school district and to work with your kids! I am excited to turn the leadership role at Willink over to Brian Powers starting next Friday.....Willink Middle School is getting an outstanding new leader and I wish him and everyone at WMS the best!
Regards, and See You Later!
