GRE Family Gazette

May 20, 2019

Dear GRE Families,

We've made it to the final week of school! Where the time went, I have no idea! This week we will send off our 4th graders, as they wrap up their final week of elementary school. We have quite the week planned for our amazing students. You'll want to be sure to read through the entire newsletter to make sure you are prepared for the week ahead.

As our Race to the Finish campaign wraps up we want to congratulate all of our wall signers. Students and staff alike had a great time with this extra weekly incentive. This week, due to many events, we will not follow our A, B, C, D special schedule. Students need to be sure to dress in comfy clothes with tennis shoes on Monday. We encourage students to bring a sack lunch, beach towel, and water bottle to field day as well as come wearing sunscreen. Your child's teacher will share if there are any other days to wear special t-shirts, etc.

Finally, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for welcoming me into the Big Walnut family this year. I have loved getting to know you and learn about the strong community that is Big Walnut Local Schools. On behalf of the entire GRE staff, thank you for sharing your child with us and partnering together for a great 2018-2019 school year!

Here's to a great final week full of fun, friends and learning!

Ohio Week Fun for 4th Grade!

A Few Important Reminders:

1. Schedule for the week!

Monday- Field Day

We will be outside all day playing PE games and bounding in blow ups. Sessions run from 9:15-11:15 and 1:00-3:00. Students should dress comfy, bring a beach towel and water bottle and be ready to have a blast!

This year we are hoping to have our 24 stations run by volunteers. We can't do it without you! There are still a few more volunteer opportunities, especially in the afternoon. Click here to sign up. You can sign up for just the morning session, just the afternoon session, or join us for the whole day!

Tuesday-Variety Show & Volunteer Luncheon

Performance times are 9:00-10:30 and 2:00-3:00

If your child is performing in the Variety Show you should have received their performance time. Right now it looks like the weather will hold out for Field Day. Should their be inclement weather on Monday, Variety Show will be moved to Monday (this will be confirmed by Sunday noon and announced on Facebook). You can help us prepare our students by talking to your child about how to support our student performers! It takes a lot of courage to get up in front of 500+ peers.

Wednesday-Discover Day/ Eagle Ed

Discover Day will take place from 9:00-11:00. During this time, students will learn from professionals in the real world. They will travel with their classes to different presentations.

Eagle Ed will take place from 1:30-3:00 and is split in to two sessions. This is a student favorite! Ask your child what sessions they are attending!

Thursday- Final Day for Students; Early Release at 1:30

4th Grade Clap Out begins at 1:00PM

Early Release for Students with dismissal at 1:30PM

3. Lunch visitors-please remember that you may not take photos in our lunch room. We love that you are here to visit your amazing children, but several of our students families do not want their children photographed and posted on social media websites. Help us respect all of our families wishes by keeping any photos you want to take with your child in our office area where we can make sure no other kids are in the picture. If you have questions, please email or call our office.
