Happy Friday from CMS!
We have loved celebrating our counselors this week in honor of National School Counselors Week. I know our counselors have been such an incredible support to many of our students and families. They make a tremendous impact on our school. Our counselors are expected to track data to inform many of our processes and decision making. I thought it would be fun to show a snapshot of a semester in the counselors office. You certainly can't "count" all the ways counselors impact students, but we want to appreciate them for their work! See snapshot below.
We have performances from our theatre department tonight and tomorrow night. The show is going to be great. I hope you can make it to a performance. See details below.
I also want to invite you to the CMS Honor Band send-off concert on Sunday, February 9th at 7:00pm at the MHS Performing Arts Center. Our students will perform on stage in San Antonio before hundreds of music educators from across the country. We are excited to see their final practice performance prior to their big trip.
There is no school on Monday, February 17th.
Thank you!

PTO News and Updates
Hello Parents!
Valentine's Day is coming up and we have something SWEET going on. Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop in Allen is helping us raise funds for PTO. All you have to do is stop in their pie shop and pick up a delicious pie or call in an order. 30% of the proceeds will go back to Cockrill PTO. Just pick up the pie and put in your receipt in the box provided at their shop.
Fundraiser is February 3rd-8th, Monday through Saturday. Delicious!!!
We have a few things coming up that we could use help with! We have an immediate need for a parent to help organize volunteers for the COPY ROOM and help us sell tickets for the 7th/8th grade winter dance at the end of February. Please email Serena Ashcroft at cockrillpto1@gmail.com
Thanks for your help and support as always!

Theatre Show at CMS
Come see CMS Theatre’s production of “Anne Frank & Me” before it heads to UIL One-Act Play Competition! February 7th and 8th at 7pm at CMS, tickets $5 at the door. Alternate (understudy) show February 8th at 4pm – tickets by donation. The show is approx. 40 minutes long.
Show synopsis: This multiple national award-winning American classic, which was a hit in New York, is about the awakening of a modern teen Holocaust denier. Nicole Burns doubts the truth and cares even less, but ultimately comes face to face with the hell of the Holocaust, and—in an extraordinary sequence—meets Anne Frank on a cattle car to Auschwitz. We start out with Nicole in today's teen world. Unfinished homework assignments and young love are all transported with her to Nazi-occupied Paris, 1942 to 1944, and then are brought forward again to the light and hope of the present.

Snack Shack
Students LOVE the snack shack, and I love that our PTO is committed to opening it each week. Our SNACK SHACK is always in need of volunteers. It is a fast and fun way to be involved. Thanks for all the support.
Lunch for Students
Due to a variety of safety concerns related to food allergies and campus safety and security, McKinney ISD does not allow students to utilize food delivery services at school. This includes services such as Uber Eats, Doordash and direct restaurant delivery. However, parents/guardians will still be permitted to drop food off for their children.
This rule does not apply to deliveries organized by McKinney ISD faculty or a teacher serving as a sponsor of a student organization. We appreciate your cooperation in our efforts to create a safe and secure environment for students.
Parents may only deliver food for your own child. We can't accept group deliveries.
Want to Volunteer?
If you would like to volunteer at CMS, please complete the Volunteer Background Check. If you have been approved in the past, you have until September to update your application for the new school year. You must complete a new form each year. Please note that if you do not complete the proper paperwork, you cannot help chaperone field trips or help with the school in any way. We need and want your help, so please fill out the forms now.
