#TogetherWeCan
I've included an optional form below for you to give us feedback on how to make the middle school transition the best it can be. Covid-19 definitely put a dent in our plans for so much that we do in the spring for 5th graders. We promise to make it up to you though! Once I hear back from families, I'll work with teachers and staff to ensure a great year for you and your middle schooler.
As we watch the news and social media, it is a stark reality that we are living through a pandemic of both a virus and racism. I know that many of you are hurting. Please know that we are working hard not only on making our school as safe as possible physically for the fall to combat Covid-19, but also examining our practices and procedures for bias and racism. We will continue to not only learn, but also take action. Please know that you can reach out to me anytime to give your feedback or suggestions. I also included a couple resources below if you are wanting more information on ways to discuss the current events with your family. One thing that this year has proven is that we are a resilient community, and together, we can ensure lasting change happens.
As a principal one of my top goals is to improve the communication in our school. If you would like, please take a moment to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter at the addresses on the bottom of this newsletter. We will update these accounts frequently throughout the school year not only with events, but daily happenings in our school to help our families see what goes on in our building throughout the day. The website and Fulton 58 app are other great ways to stay connected.
Ms. Hogan and I will start our annual "FMS Welcome Wagon" visits to all 6th graders in the coming weeks. This is a chance to say hello, drop off a little Hornet swag and welcome you to FMS. We will share our schedule on Facebook and in an email once we have it organized. Our plan is to start in Millersburg this Thursday and continue throughout the summer. If you would rather not have a visit, not a problem, just let me know. Also, we will be sure to stay socially distanced.
Partnering together, we can ensure the success of our kids. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have at anytime.
Thank you again for all you do!
Sincerely,
Beth Houf
