Superintendent's Message

Susan M. Hasenauer, Superintendent

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Families,

Thanksgiving Day is an annual national holiday in the United States and in Canada. It celebrates the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people. For many of us we don’t think about that. Thanksgiving is the day that kicks off the holiday season and is also that time of year when we can look back and take stock of all the things we are grateful for in our lives.

For me personally, I am grateful for the job I have even on the toughest days, as I know the challenges only make me a stronger superintendent. I am thankful for the amazing people I work with each day that support the students in this community. I am thankful for my own children who brighten my world in ways I could never even imagine (certainly not the cleanliness of their bedrooms). I am thankful for my life and all the lessons I have learned along the way, even those that were difficult. And most importantly, as we still maneuver through COVID, I am thankful for the silver linings that have been part of the last year and a half and the hope and resiliency that still exists as we continue to move through this pandemic.

As I contemplate on my own personal gratitude, I also want to reflect on the importance of recognizing others for the value they add to our lives, as often in our busiest of days we forget to say a heartfelt thank you to those who mean so much to us. So, with that said I would just like to say THANK YOU to each of you for supporting our district and I wish you the most wonderful Thanksgiving and time well spent with those you love and care for this season.
