The Weekly Hoot
April 29-May 5, 2019
Greetings All -
Happy Friday! And, oh what a happy one it is!!! I don't know specific percentages yet (those should come on Monday, if not before), BUT I do know that our first round of 5th grade STAAR Reading and Math scores came in today and they were PHE-NOM-ON-AL!!!!!
As of right now, we only have 7 students out of the 5th grade who have to retake one or both parts of the test! That is it! How amazing is that? Congratulations to ALL OF YOU for a job well done with our oldest kiddos. From tutoring, covering duty, extra intervention lessons, and having students ready for the next grade level, all of you have had a hand in these results. Be proud of your hard work! I know we can still reach the kiddos that need to conquer this hurdle because I work with the best there is!
As we all know, it is getting close to the end of the year. I can see it in your faces as you walk the halls. You are TIRED! Spring fever has definitely sprung, with us as well as with the kiddos. I found a great blog post that I think we all need to read as May approaches. We are tired right now. We are grumpy. We are feeling ready to throw our hands up. But then, right when we least expect it, a child makes a breakthrough, or you get a hug from a child, or a parent thanks you. At that moment, you know you are in the greatest profession in the world.

With all of that being said, I hope all of you have an amazing weekend. I plan on heading out to the 8th Annual Crawfish Festival (the 1st one was where Donovan and I got together! LOL!), and enjoying a lazy Sunday with a little prayin', a little yard work, and my friend Rhonda cooking a big ol' lunch (Okay, that is probably not really going to happen this Sunday, but a girl can sure dream, can't she?)
I hope all of you enjoy yours too!
Love,
Marcy
Owl Wings This Week Go To...
Our fourth grade team...Crystal Sechelski, Kelley Tagudin, and Jaime Vezurk.
Our fourth grade configuration had to change some next year because of the new ELAR TEKS and how they are set up. After the fourth grade level meeting, it was evident that all of these ladies were going to have to get out of their comfort zone in order for next year's schedule to work, so they did. And they did so with grace. One of them moved grade levels so I could still utilize her expertise in a Reading/ELA classroom, one of them agreed to begin teaching a whole ELAR block when before it has been split, and one agreed to go self-contained 4th grade...with three STAAR tests...I don't think I need to say any more about that! LOL! Thank you ladies for being amazing team players. I appreciate it greatly, and I know that next year is going to be amazing!
