## Reading

This week we will investigate all kinds of weather. As we read we'll explore the question, " How can some storms be dangerous?" In the informational text Super Storms, we'll learn about several kinds of extreme weather. Then we will read Weather Poems, including "Night Drumming for Rain," "Who Has Seen the Wind," and "Weather."

Students will also be completing a Storm Project. Papers are going home on Monday the 7th and the students need to return the form on their choice of storm by Wednesday the 9th. The project will be due on Monday December 14th. Students will be presenting these storms to their classmates the last week of school, December 14-18th.

Learning goals:

I Can....

- tell important ideas and details about a topic

- picture what is happening when I read

## Math

Unit 3 Place Value, Time, and Money

We have been working on numeration and place value, using coins to buy things, and making change by counting up. We will have our test over unit 3 next week. A study guide will come home as well on Monday Dec. 14th. We will test on Tuesday.

A great way to help students is to practice counting and paying with money. They can always use more to pay with an item than exact change.
