Donor Gratitude Month
Because Soulation Wouldn't Exist Without Them.
Our partners' turn to tell their stories.
This special team is made up of people who aren’t satisfied by pat answers.
They found new life in the way Jesus fleshed out humanity. After giving Soulation the privilege of helping them along their journey, these special people (and dozens of others!) joined hands with us to help give life to other searching souls.
Each Thursday in November, you’ll meet a different donor (we wish we could introduce each of them!).

On Thanksgiving Day, watch a special tribute from healed souls who want to say “Thanks.” Want to participate? Email mail@soulation.org.
Meet Cathy
Cathy makes her home in rural North Carolina, along with husband, Mickey, resident canine, and two teenage sons, the older of whom, has added "Diary of a Parent Trainer: Learn to Train Your Grownup!" to Cathy's recent stack of "To Reads." All enjoy rural living, hiking, reading, cooking with cast iron skillets and having teens and younger kids over for weekends of pizza and pancakes.
Cathy was introduced to Soulation when she borrowed the book, Ruby Slippers, from her niece. Intrigued by the cover, she went down a road that required a greater honesty and examination of her identity in Christ as His beloved.
What is your personal history with the modern church in America?
My personal history with the modern church is varied—I have seen passion for serving lived out of love and devotion, and I’ve seen passion played out as a point (or points) of control. I have served with joy, and I have also served to meet other’s expectations of me or to receive supportive responses. I’ve been encouraged in the renewal of Sabbath-like rest in many circles of fellowship. In the past ten or so years, I’ve observed a shifting of focus in the modern church in America. The church is often viewed or experienced as a utilitarian investment with the question posed, “Do the resources of MY time, energy, money offer dividends that either outweigh, or at least match MY investments?" with the emphasis on MY. For a large number of those who identify themselves as Christians, or those considering church, the answer is “No.” The Church, in response to a world losing interest in spiritual truth rooted in the person of Christ, has turned to pulling out all the stops---a sort of “Putting on the Ritz”--to shore up shrinking congregations and attract new congregants, with The Programs and The Facility often being the litmus test for joining the ranks, rather than a careful consideration of the voice of God and passion to humbly serve. I see the heart of the North American church warming towards external draws, bearing a strong resemblance to Phariseeism, while growing cooler towards the call to take up one’s cross and follow the humble example of Christ. God desires to draw his children to the art of coming closer and serving with passionate abandon-- hands embracing the basin and towel and the feet of Christ.
Of all the recent developments at Soulation, which one are you most excited about?
Of the five Soulation values, which one is most important in your life? Why?
Biblical Faithfulness (to The Truth—spoken, written and personified in the person of Christ). I have embraced Truth in my life, and I have embraced lies. I have experienced the freedom embracing Truth brings, and the bondage of bending the ear to lies. Living in the truth, in Christ, is my identity—a little Christ one, lampstand to His Glory. The core values of Soulation hang upon faithfulness to The Truth and The Word.
