Nurse's Nook
As we start this new semester and new year, COVID has again come in strong. We have had several cases throughout our community and school. I just wanted to put out a message saying that although the CDC has changed the quarantine guidelines to 5 days, Pinellas County School district has not changed their guidelines. They remain as a 10-day quarantine if your student tests positive. Home kits are still not recognized by the health department and therefore are not accepted by the school district. You must obtain a lab test from either a certified lab, such as from Walgreens, CVS or from your physician. A doctor’s note will also be sufficient. A rapid test is acceptable as long as it is from a lab. There are 3 ways that your student can come back to school after a positive result or being symptomatic:
· A negative COVID test and are asymptomatic,
· 10 days out from date of first symptoms (or from test date if asymptomatic),
· Symptoms are resolving with written physician clearance.
Please continue to notify the school if your student has symptoms or tests positive. We are required to put the case into our district COVID dashboard and the returning dates are then determined through the department of health. Someone from the school will notify you of the return date once we have received it. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Nurse Diana at 727-943-4600 between the hours of 8-3. Or email at glatczakd@pcsb.org. Thank you all for your cooperation and understanding this year.
East Lake Rotary Club's Student of the Month
Our January East Lake Sunrise Student of the Month is Luke Ortega! Luke is a pleasure to have in the classroom for so many reasons. He is a positive role model for others in both behavior and work habits. He works hard and is diligent with all his tasks. He is a friend to all and even reaches out to those who have few friends by talking with them or including them too. He is approachable and everyone loves to be around him. Luke is a Safety Patrol and takes his job very seriously, helping others getting to and from their locations. Luke is one amazing human being and the world is such a better place because he is in it!
